Does anyone know if the bluetooth adapter is built in or is it an adapter/chip I can install myself within the M14x?

Also, if you do have one already installed, can you please provide me the Item # of the adapter from your order.

    Thank You!

Dell provides an order sheet on the box of all alienware laptops they ship out with a summary of the contents.

If someone who received Bluetooth with their M14x can provide me the item number of the Bluetooth module i would appreciate it.

If there is no item # then forgive me and ignore the request

Bluetooth is an internal card. It's just above the opictal drive, if you pull the thing apart.

There is no link, you are just going to have to contact dell, tell them your service tag, and provide them with the item number so they can order it for you.

Oops, I thought you were asking for the USB drivers.

For Bluetooth, they are included with Windows 7, but streaming audio does not work. I did some research and installed this driver:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/265378263/BTW_6.2.0.9700.rar

Once installed, my bluetooth devices work, and now my bluetooth headphones can stream sound.

Its called the Dell 375 Wireless Bluetooth Module.

For some reason Dell has not put the driver files under the m14x (last time I checked). I ended up having to download it from another laptop driver page for Dell.

    http://support.us.dell.com/support/...dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=424300

Also, if you want to purchase it separately, you can find it on ebay. Although I could only find the correct module, and not the correct cable for it.

Link to Alienware m14x part numbers:
M14x FAQ - Alienware Forum - Alienware Club - Dell Community

The part numbers you would likely need are:

    974W9 Cable, Bluetooth

    AND

G9M5X Bluetooth module, 375, Foxconn (Does not include cable) [OR] WJCJD Bluetooth Module, 375, Liteon (Does not include cable)

I would just order it through Dell to be safe. You could run into issues with cable length (as seen in the following link), and some of the modules on Ebay are for other Dell laptops.

Here is a link to how to remove/install it from the Alienware m14x service manual:

    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/M14x/en/SM/btboard.htm#wp1213901

It's not Dell at all, it's Microsoft. If you do some research, you'll find that in Windows Vista Microsoft supplied A2DP capable Bluetooth drivers. Then in Win 7 they switched it to just standard BT drivers that don't support A2DP. So company's who manufacture devices for Windows had no need to include drivers, they were built in. When Microsoft pulled the rug, there are millions of devices on the market with no driver, now all of the sudden you need a driver.
