so after a long 11 days of working at the Calgary stampede, i finally managed to get enough money for a m14x. now looking around the threads here, i find that a lot of people have been able to get the best deal possible. Now, i understand being in Canada has its disadvantages. one of which is not getting a good enough discount, sometimes none. so i was wondering if you guys could help give me some advice on buying an alienware, yes i read the aw/dell guide thingy. and if you guys could send me a good rep that would be the best. keeping in mind i am in Canada.
thanks

Dell changes their promotions and offers quite frequently and sometimes it's worth waiting 2 or 3 weeks to wait for a better offer to come around.
However, living in Germany, I have to say that the current offering listed on Dell Canada looks quite decent to me, regarding the m14x:

Dial the dell number and then the extension when the robot asks for it.
Tell him Umar referred him to you. I just received my M14x today about 3 hours ago. I ordered it from Mathew on 7/12 and received excellent service. He gave me a student discount along with a free xbox.... -
agh thats great which one did you get, and what price?

nice, what about the screen and the ram? I am also looking at that 25% off deal thingy, but i am guessing that dosent apply to me. you should also try calling dell and telling them you would like to return it and see if they give ya a disscount

Remember to take a lot of the prices people get here with a grain of salt. The majority of NBR posters are in the US; we Canadians (and other international customers) can't always get the same kind of deals.
-
i know thats the bad part, like how we dont get the 25% discount on now
-
yes i know i got an excellent deal....i was also reallly nice and quaint with the rep, i asked how his day has been and that question seemed to have been a refreshing one for him, he actually explained to me about his day lol...and then i told him how i am a student and have been saving for the m14x for a while now but still am a little short, and he offered the student discount and then i inquired about the xbox and he said i qualified.....

i get my pay-check tomorrow

I love DELL!! -

Again, unless you are Canadian, you aren't really helping the OP. Many deals are not applicable outside of the US, so flaunting it here doesn't help him figure out what his best course of action is and just makes things more confusing. -
yes i know about all the deals, like i said, i am a Canadian so doesnt help me at all.
couldnt agree more -

By chance are you still in school, or have access to an EPP/MPP program (through an employer, either your own or a friend/family member)?
At my workplace, we have access to the MPP (Members Purchase Program). It used to flat out say like 8% off Alienware, but Dell Canada has revamped their MPP site and offerings. It's more confusing now since it's pretty vague:
None of the discounts are really visible online (except the last one, "Best Price", which is like a measly 2% off, so I'm going to have to call in one of these days if I decide to go with an Alienware.Code:Exclusive Offers Carefully selected systems with up to 30% in member savings Members save an extra 10% off all Dell mobility products Call to learn more about the current exclusive financing offer Exclusive deals carefully selected for you. Member Purchase Program | Dell Canada
You need a membership code to purchase though (or you are supposed to...)
Have you considered/tried going through a reseller? I think Fortnax is in Calgary. Contact them directly, or PM the owner/employee/rep that is on here named Aikimox. They only list the M17x R3 and M18x on their website, but might be able to get you an M14x. -
Wow, that has to be the steal deal of the year. Now, I believe you.
-
My bad I guess I was confused, I don't live in Canada, I am in the states....but still, the OP can try to give my rep a call...
-
haha, thanks for the heads up...ill be trying today to see how it goes, wish me luck.
