This for $1250.00 flat. No taxes (I live in Canada so getting this brand spanking new would be about $1269.99 + 13% tax (165.10) = $1435.09) plus its not a 500GB 7200 RPM HD but an SSD.
Worth it? I've decided to meet the guy tomorow to see it work and everything but need some advice!

I'd say it's worth it. Since you already have the SSD in there, you can buy another mechanical drive for storage, and install it, or just get an external drive with some space. 80gb isn't going to be enough to install more than 1 or 2 games (depending on the games of course), so personally I'd install a second drive in the DVD bay.
Newegg.com - Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Still a very good deal.
Not to mention the SSD that's in there is more expensive than the mechanical drive that would have come with the system:

That is exactly what I was thinking; may as well follow the guide to installing a second HD, and the SSD is a good steal in my opinion. Now does anyone know if I need to original owner to do something in order to transfer the warranty or would I be able to do this myself if I have all of his information?

ya good deal specially in canada.....
that 14% tax is killer -
If you can get the warranty, it's definitely worth it.
-
Make sure if you do buy it that he transfers the warranty over to you!!
Dell - Ownership Transfers -
Yeah i'm still trying to figure out how I'll make him do it though, we'll be meeting at a place without internet thats for sure though, so I'm thinking I'll print out the ownership transfer page, make him fill it out with all of his info and I'll do it myself at home. He's a French Canadian (can tell just by accent) and although I do know French a bit, its rusty so communicating this to him might be easier this way ah well, I'll probably post here whether I got it or not tomorow hehe

Best of luck!

TYPING FROM MY M14x NOW MUAHAHA it feels so awesome lol
-
awesome dude congrats its a beast... has a few small issues that do not bug me one bit .
-
now to somehow get that hdd installed into the optical bay, gonna be a blast hope i dont break anything not that i ever have lol
-
Hmmm I would make a new thread but thats just wasting space so I'll ask here; anyone recommend a specific 320gb 7200 RPM 2.5" HD? i've no use for 500gb now that i think of it.. even 250gb is enough. Anything that you guys have tested and seems to work without problems please post!
-
How did ownership transfer go, assuming you guys did it? I'm going to unload an AW myself and would like to know how smoothly it went
Regarding a 250gb, I'd say any would do as long as it has a warranty
-
fairly simply put for the warranty, print out the warranty page and have the other person fill out his information, all of it no doubt about it. There is a small chance that your computer might not be automatically detected by dells detection system (like this one did), but as long as you have the other persons name, manually find the service tag, and fill out your information you can submit your form and wait up to 10 days for a reply. This and the fact that in my case I received a signed form saying the seller will help me until the warranty is transferred =)
i guess also i was lucky that this guy was a very nice person. -
Awesome...and congrats on your purchase!

Thanks a bunch! And you know what, its actually MUCH more than I expected, I find myself not annoyed at all by the fan noise especially because the temps on my system are low even when gaming. Reason for this is I disabled turbo for now in the bios, and I only play at reasonable settings (sc2 ultra textures with all high settings so far 72fps average and 68 degrees max playing for 2 hours lmfao of course at the lower resolution 1366x768 since I dont mind it). Ah I'm so glad you people (all of you wonderful people) convinced me to buy this haha. Thanks to you all at NBR!
-
Hopefully the fan won't start to irk you..at first it didn't bother me, but lately it's been switching on full blast for no particular reason =\
-
yeah i have a feeling tho, that whatever fix theyre making will do the job. okay fine not a feeling, more like a prayer =) haha until then ill try to turn a deaf here to it since its not so bad for me
