I'm on the verge of buying a m14x : should i call and try to bargain with a sales rep. or it's always about the same price, save me the time wasting and get the 48hrs shipping from the web site ?

    Thanks.

Always, always phone. That's a rule with AW systems ;)

Generally, a good over-the-phone rep deal is about 15%. If you happen to get more than 15%, then you've snagged an excellent rep.

    If you can't get 15%, try 10% + free warranty upgrade/orion backpack/gift cards instead.

Don't stop until you get it.

    I'm not either :p

If you can find a US address to get it either delivered for pick-up or forwarded to you, I can get you an excellent deal with my rep, however for Canada, I know no one that could help ...unless a Canadian buyer with a great discount would like to PM you his/her rep info ;)

Oh I forgot to mention, the "ships in 24hrs" one is a rip off. They charge 200$ more for the screen upgrade (valued at 50$ on the Canadian AW site) and 2 more GB of RAM, which is 34.99$ on Newegg.ca (for a 4GB stick), so you're basically paying 115$ to get it in 48hrs instead of 7-9 days :p

i dunno about 15%. I ordered my m14x about a week after it came out and he gave me like 4% off. And i even tried using 2 reps against each other and that seemed to be the lowest theyd go then. not sure if its gotten better since then for the m14x.

Ouch, that's a shame, because when it first came out, reps were giving Farmers discounts generously to US addresses, so you could of had -21% off even if you weren't with Farmers. Some would even stack it with coupons too! Sadly, that discount is long gone now.

Right now, though, I've been seeing 150-300$ discounts for the M14X (including the coupon) in the last week. I know here in Canada it's quite hard to find a good rep ...they seem to only exist if you have a US address.

Out of curiosity, I'm going to try a few tomorrow just to see how the discounts match VS US reps since I'll have some time to kill before work and if I find a good Canadian rep, I'll let you guys know.

yes i recall the farmers discount but being from canada i couldnt take advantage of it. i also had a good US rep from someone on here but they are not allowed to ship to canada, so i was stuck.

They're $100.00 off at DELL.CA today. So $1,299.99. Not that great of a deal, but it is something.

Thanks for the tips Voodooi, I will definitely take this into consideration as I'm deciding between a M14 and M18. Also for anyone else looking for ordering advice, definitely do it by phone and give this a good read:
