Purchasing after is beyond expensive. For me its worth it as I commute to campus and use my computer for everything (School, Games, Television, General activities).

I've seen posters post after-purchase quotes and they were monstrous.

For example, a post I was reading last week had a guy who was quoted 400$ for year #2 of warranty coverage.

It all depends which rep you get, so keep that mind. I've read of people trying several reps and the quotes greatly vary.

for your info , i called up dell in the uk and spoke to a rep, i ended up getting a 3 year extension(so a total of 4 years) for £179 , what a bargain :)

This was within the initial 30 days though

Unbelieavable, almost cheaper than a single additional year along with the purchase...

any chance you can give us some info about the rep ? Like name, direct line number or his email ?

I'm trying to get a deal like that but my rep gave me a quote of £297, which is frankly quite hard to swallow :(

If you don't want to put his info publicly, perhaps you can shoot me an email at [email protected] ?

    Cheers :D

Trust me - its beyond expensive.

I wanted a quote for a m18x since I only picked up a 1 year advanced (part of the reason for the return). It was $1500 to max it out including complete care. At POS it was $440ish.

I talked to rep and they advised me to return it and repurchase with the POS warranty since they can't give me those rates.

Why would anyone spend $1500 on a warranty. Put $1500 in savings, and if anything does happen to your laptop, you have the cash to replace it. Insurance on anything should not cost the same as a new one, otherwise what's the point?

I think he meant that his system was $1500, the warranty was $400 on top of that :D

As for squaretrade, I can't seem to find a way to get a quote from the uk website. It would need to be purchased the same time with the laptop, it seems
