    CD/DVD Drive Randomly Spins

    At random times my DVD/CD drive randomly spins up. And whenever I open iTunes it spins up.
    Any ideas?

    There already was a big discussion about this issue, it is caused by the DVD drive checking for inserted discs...

    This is true, it's the normal behavior. What Pardo did on his m14x was to disable USB emulation and that makes it drop it by 80%. You can try that.

    It is some kind of glitch and it is not normal but you just have to live with it. I tested it with other slot loading drives laptops and it doesn't have that reading/spinning sound but my former m14x r2 has it. Even my former G55 wth a tray loading drive had that reading/spinning sound everything you open a program or a file.

    I disabled CD/DVD drive in device manager and now it only does it on startup.
