Quick question, I'm re-doing the thermal compound on my m14x r1. I've got everything taken apart, the only thing I didn't do was unplug the CMOS battery.

Should I unplug it? Or will I be okay if I leave it plugged in?

    1) unplug it
    2) keep the power button button pressed for few seconds to empty all static in board
3)before playing around with CPU, touch any metallic object that seems to be grounded to some extent atleast. even minor static can fry up your cpu.
