First of all, I ordered my M14x R2 with the 64gb mSATA boot drive.

So that means it will come with the OS installed onto the mSATA card correct? That being said, I want to install a Seagate Momentus XT SSHD in it. So if the OS comes on the mSATA card does that mean that the 500GB hd that comes with the machine will be completely empty? So all I have to do is just swap the drives out right? and not copy anything??

I just had mine delivered this week with the 64gb SSD and 500gb HD. The 500gb HD is completely empty.

Yes, the secondary drive should be completely empty if the OS is installed on the mSATA drive. There really isn't much room left on the 64GB mSATA drive after the OS and driver install though.

I got my m14x r2 2 weeks ago and bought it with a 500gb 7200 drive. I had a 120gb ssd from my old system that I just put in and works great. Now I found out u can add a msata ssd drive but I have no clue where it goes. Can you guys tell me where it goes or even post a pic. I would like to have a second drive for backing up work files. Could the msata drive be used like a slave drive or does the os have to be installed on it?

Msata is right behind the battery. Right side from the wireless card. It even have a screw for it when you install it.

Easy install...problem is finding a sata3 msata ssd.
