So I had my system repaired by Dell, and everything went fine and it was quick and easy, but the GPU is kind of a dud. If I overclock it to 750/1080 I get artifacts in games, so any help? They upgraded my BIOS to A05 and I downgraded to A03 and it didnt work, and Im going to try A08. Trying whatever will help. If anyone has tips or if you know Dell will replace my GPU/Motherboard again thatd be awesome cause this would seriously suck without the ability to overclock (losing a whole 10-15fps!).

bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
every card is different. My 460m will hit 830/1600 and then crash while other people can hit over 850 with no problems. Some people just get better cards than others.
don't think dell will replace the card because it runs fine stock. If you get a really nice rep though they might do it idk.

Yeah sucks, seems like my last system could have done anything, wish I wouldve pushed it more. I can only go up to 750/1500/1050 without artifacts and stuttering
-
I had also problems to go over or be 100% stable 750/1050 on A03 unlocked. I switched to A03 unlocked overvolted and it is stable. And I can go much higher if I want.
My card gets 2c warmer at load compared to stock A03 unlocked. -
Is overvolting THAT dangerous, worth it, and can it be reverted or something somehow? Ive got 3 years of accidental warranty/360$ at stake.

What game is it that you having artefact? For me I can seem to OC as high as I want to and no artefact at all, if not for the heating issue I'd be OC at 850/1700 right now, since I just have the thermal repaste now I can OC to my previous satisfy speed - 800/1600. However I also do notice if I add more 50/100 then I'll start to see some artefacts in BF3.
-
Personally, I wouldn't do it in that situation.

The A03 0.92V Bios works perfect plus cooling is good and it includes update for GPU memory (based on A03 release notes).
0.92 V is VERY small overvolt compared to stock. And 2c is worth the stability.
Oh, and flashing to any other (stock) bios 'sets voltage' back to default. -
Lets say my GPU was a derp and fried as soon as I overvolted, could they tell?
-
No LOL, because if you burn the GPU (will not happen, but pssssst) then:
- (you get to Win7) you can flash back to default Bios, because processor GPU gets you to Windows.
- (you do not get to Win7) In case that this is not the case (have not experienced this having overvolted Bios for 3 months) you can always reflash bios through memory stick at boot.
- will not hurt your GPU, chill
Cant overclock
