Does anyone know of a good car charger for the m14x (no an inverter). So far the closest thing I found was a Hipower on Amazon:
Hipower 150W DC Car Automobile Power Adapter Charger For Dell Precision M4400, M6300, M90, PP05XA, PP30L Laptop Notebook Computers
It has the center plug that Dell typically requires. Now the real questions are:
Does it fit? (IOW, is the adaptor for the stated Dell models the same?)
If so, will it work, meaning will the proper power adaptor authenticaion message be delivered to the BIOS?
If not, does anyone know anything about this hipower company and maybe if they have m14x speced car chargers in the works?
I've already tried my 120W Kensington (which does work on m11x btw) and the m14x gives a BIOS error message saying something to the effect that I am trying to use a 90W when 150W is required and that performance and battery charging will be slowed.

Good find. That'll do it. I bought the charger for the Precision M90 on Ebay and they work great with the m14x. I would imagine this Hipower would perform the same.
I think since the D800 series Dell has pretty much used the same plug adapter just at different wattages. -
My biggest concern is that the chip in the power supply delivers the right message back to the BIOS. The third conductor in Dell power supplies -- Inside the DELL AC Power Adapter - A mystery revealed | The Laptop Junction
