So, I was thinking of getting a M14x but I'm not sure if I should wait for the R3 or just settle for the R2. I know it's all speculation now but would the prices remain the same or would it change? Also any specs that may change?

    Thanks for the help

You realize R2 just came out about 4-5 months ago and you are already thinking about R3?

Why wait for R3 when you can wait for R4, wait might as well wait for R5.

I wasn't entirely sure how long they take between revisions because they seem to update every quite frequently (or at least in the case of xps systems ie: 1640/1645/1647/L101x/L102x/then the current stuff now which is all within 2/3 years).

So I assumed maybe R3 may come out soon. So I was just hoping to get a gauge on how long on avg it would take.

Edit: Although after looking around the times for the M17x went as followed going by the release date of the manuals for bios rev 00 or 01
    R1: 2/09 | R2: 10/10 | R3: 1/12 | R4: 4/12
I'm not entirely sure why the gap between R3 and R4 was so little, but assuming it isn't significant then it seems like the M14x will come out with a revision within the next 6 months

i would say go for the r2 right now and if you're someone that upgrades fast grab the plan that allows for sell-backs at certain %'s and grab a new one if it does come out and you've got the money (i would, but i like to keep anything I purchase for at least a year until I upgrade which isn't worth purchasing a plan over - you'll find this in the extras when customizing).

The R3 will probably come out when Intel releases a new CPU, IE the Haswell. Intel seems to release their chips in late March or early April and new computers usually follow pretty close.

We have no ETA on the R3 yet. the R2 was just released a couple of months ago, perhaps you can get the R2 now and then re-sell it when the R3 comes out and get it :)
