I just got an M14x and well it has been running fine today I notice that when it comes out of sleep the audio card is gone, Windows was able to recognize again when i shut down the computer completely happen several times, I decided to re install the drivers to see if that help and well for not it appears it does.

But the issue is that I called dell/alienware support and the first thing they told me that I shouldn't put the machine into sleep or hibernation I know as a fact this modes are sometimes do not work, but well I just want to make sure nothing is wrong with the machine that I just drop some money in it. I got a little bit angry because of the way they were telling me that the ALIENWARE is the best machine and the best Hardware and the best everything. I know what I am buying nobody needs to tell that the machine is the state of the art of all machines ;-)

Well, enough ranting, is Dell correct to say that I shouldn't the machine in sleep mode or not?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your audio card drivers.

think car salesman. they will tell you anything and everything to make u feel like a moron.

btw, i noticed the same problem when i put it to sleep and wake up a few times (i hardly ever turn it off).

when the audio dies, i simply reboot and the problem goes away. doesn't bother me much but i'm not blaming you

    if it does to you.

yep i think it has been stable for a while I just want to make sure it is not a mobo issue, still it is frustrating that they try and tell you something doesn't make sense in my view.

Well it has happened several times now, after drivers and re flash the bios, and I had a "tech call" and they decided to do a mobo replacement coming this way, now this is a new system (under 21 days) so I still think I need an exchange, but it appears the policy is to cancel, return and refund and then reorder which I think it is not way to proceed, they should send me a new system and I should return mine, I am still fighting the battle trying to see by other means if I can get the exchange without doing the whole cancellation and refund thing.
