I just got a phone call from India from a guy who wanted to sell me additional warranty for another 4 years.

The initial quoted price was $500/year for 4 extra years. However the current promotion was 75% off making it $125/year for 4 years + a $75 cash gift card.

I went on to argue that $125 doesn't justify the price over 4 years because it's still $500 on the long run and how I couldn't imagine any repair costing that much money.

Did I make a mistake here in rejecting this offer or should I try to call the dell sales team back to get this offer?

Why not... If your lap get broken in 3 years, you will receive a better new machine... :)

I don't think it's a "better" machine. I think a part will just get replaced by an onsite technician.
