I noticed some dust between the LCD and the hard plastic surface and I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of it? Anyone else with the same problem?

The panel of the screen is plastic and it pops off, its real easy to do it I saw the Field tech do it to my laptop. lol I just did it while typing this.... Hmm maybe if some third party made these panels less reflective I would buy one :D

I wouldn't recommend that, the plastic protects the screen :D

I got a lot more dust on it because I tried to clean out this one annoying piece of lint ....

I guess I have to use Dust Off? or call Dell and have them replace the plastic panel or something...

Welp... in the process of cleaning in out with dust off I managed to break a few tabs (im such a wreck) so I guess it fits looser?

Also I managed to injure the screen (there is now a section which is darker than the rest of the screen), I believe it is my fault because I didn't notice it being there before I started the whole taking off the plastic screen to clean it off with dust off etc. You can definitely see it when you have the plastic part off. So it's actual damage done to the real screen.

I called up Dell and they're going to replace my screen. I hope that they don't screw this up somehow. I recall back when the m14x first came out and people had theirs worked on they would get the wrong screen (lowres and not the 900p one, etc.)

Sooooo the technician comes and the new screen contains an extra wire that the old screen didn't have. Completely ridiculous!

I had to watch him disassemble my laptop really roughly and disconnect the old one to realize that the new screens extra wire doesn't go anywhere .and they have to come back another day. Zzz really upset with this situation

Extra wire!! , that's why I hate Dell's technicians, most of them are useless and don't know their way around a laptop

The technician theorize that the extra wire connects to the back of the screen so it was sent to them not fully assembled

Told them to leave the laptop in parts, cause I don't want them to reassemble it. screw it in, and then do the whole thing again tomorrow, or whenever they show up. Not going to use it unless its in good shape

If you are not happy with the job the tech did, you can call dell and ask for a replacement.

I still can't understand why they try to fix brand new computers instead of sending a replacement straigh away. I wouldn't be happy with a tech opening my 1 week old laptop... It's new so if there is a problem get a replacement or a refund.

LOL dude that same exact thing happened to me but the extra wire is for the wireless HD connection he could of just left it there since there is an extra path for it, as long as you get the right res than you should be all set :D

Welp... extra wire screen arrived again. Told him it's for wireless hd, but he doesn't know where it would go. would make it extremely hard to close he said. He's on the phone with dell right now

Edit. We found the location for it. Underneath the laptop, just kind of chills near my wlan card. He's reassembling it now. I hope everything is flushed/fitted properly.

Final Edit: Once again, Dell has failed! They sent me the 768 screen, and not the 900p screen. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ I cannot believe I have to wait for them to service this....again. The technician is requesting the correct part right now, but after he leaves im going to contact Dell to complain

So I called Dell (rather they called me because the technician had to bounce)

and apparently on Wednesday they sent me the correct LCD screen (900p) one, with the wireless HD wiring that confused the technician into calling Dell to send another one, saying that they said it was the incorrect one.

I assume this leads to Dell sending the 768 one, because this one also came with the wireless HD wire that we just let dangle near the wifi card. (thanks to the poster from here, I showed him the quote and he decided to play around and find somewhere to put the wire at) This one is fully installed and I realize it's not the correct resolution.

Dell rep says why did we not install the first one on Wednesday with the 900p one, and I told him it's not my decision to install or not install things. It's the technicians job to install / think rationally about the situation.

In the end they finally pinpointed that they screwed up twice. First was sending 900p wirelessHD, second one was sending the lower res one, this time the rep reassured me that I would receive my correct 900p screen.

I was very sure to let them know how upset I was with this whole situation. Three times now my laptop will be disassembled for something that should have been taken care of the first time, or with an actual new replacement. This takes up both my time, and dell's technicians time, etc. Now my new ETA is Monday apparently...
