    Thanks to this forum i finally got my Alienware
    estimated delivery august 8 2011
    i tried my best to get a good deal, i called 2 guys to check different deals, turns out they were sitting beside each other :)
    here's the specs, tell me what you guys think.

    Meh, I woulda dropped the 6gb of ram, and ordered some 8gb from newegg by yourself. Other than that its pretty good, you can compare it to my order when I got mine if you wish :p

    Did you get an EPP/MPP discount? It was probably out of your budget, but I would have taken an extended warranty. That's just me though...

    As mentioned in some other posts, not an option in Canadian configurations if you want an i7. i7 requires 1600 Mhz RAM, and the base level of 1600 Mhz RAM they configure is 6 GB. International purchases always get a bit of a shaft.

    ya i got 2% discount for using my uncles account since hes at university of Calgary..they also gave me some other discounts
    and i think the deal is good
    and i still have 300$ left, i am not into warranty

    I got a MSI GX680 with same CPU same GPU with DDR5 memory though, 8GB ram, 750GB WD Black, DVD burner, 1920-1080 glossy screen that is very impressive. Also the audio on these MSI are outstanding. One thing I dont got Optimus, but I did get a 720P webcam, no backlit keyboard but mine makes an audible clanking noise on some of the keys. Bet your jealous now huh? And I also dont know when my caps lock or Num lock is on. Makes it super tough to log onto internet accounts if you cant tell if your caps is on. Actually I am kinda jealous as I kinda want a Alienware 14. I just wish it had a 1080P screeny. Oh I meant to mention I paid $1150.00 for the MSI.

    how did you get the discounts? you ordered it online or by phone? I am also considering it and I will arrive CANADA in late Aug. I wish I could make a good deal then. By the way, how to calc the tax? yours is only $60 and I heard that in BC the tax is 12%.

    actually i am not jeleaous at all, i searched every laptop i could lay my hands on. and honestly i kinda fell in love with the alienware (no homo). so i know its not the best bang for my buck, who cares. i dont care about money that much.

    you have to order by phone - first rule. secondly you have to talk all nice to them and such, and give them lots of bull and in the end, they give you discounts. ( they work on commission, so whatever they make is good for them) as for the tax, with Canada its kind of odd, different provinces have different tax rate. some provinces only have federal tax (like mine) while others have provincial tax aswell (like British Columbia). hope that helped
