    Hello All,

I've installed GTA IV on my new m14x and it lags like hell!! I have tried searching solution for this on Google for the past 2 days and have nt been successful.

I've seen things like 'changing the target line, whitelisting' etc., tried all of them, but had no luck.. Could someone please help me with this issue???

    My system config:
    i5 processor 2.3 GHz, 6GB RAM, 1.5GB GT 555M.

Guess there's some problem with this optimus technology.. any help is highly appreciated.. thnx a lot!!

GTA IV is a very CPU and GPU demanding game. Here's an example of an Asus G73SW throttling when trying to play this game and how running ThrottleStop made the game much more playable.

    ‪Asus G73SW CPU Throttling in GTA 4‬‏ - YouTube

I have not heard of throttling issues in the M14x like this but you could try running ThrottleStop in Monitoring mode and then check the Log File option. Try to play GTA IV for at least 15 minutes so the log file will contain plenty of info. Stop playing the game, stop ThrottleStop and then upload the ThrottleStopLog.txt file to MediaFire and post a link here so I can have a look.

Make sure to enable Nvidia GPU temperature monitoring in the ThrottleStop Options window before starting your log file. This data will help show what's causing the problem and how severe it is. It might be CPU or GPU throttling.

You can try use the command lines, Because I use to got this problem before, see this thread here: GTA4 Doesnt detect Nvidia GPU? Although the thread is relate to the GPU, but it does fix the GPU issue, maybe that is your problem as well, since it will instead use the iGP to play instead of the nVidia GPU. But to make this work, be sure that you have the 275.33 Driver installed.

I think GTA4 is a more CPU dependable than GPU, since it doesnt require any high end card to run it though, I can run it on my old desktop with Radeon HD4670.

GTA IV is a horrible port and doesn't really run that well even on much better hardware than the M14x, so you're not alone.
