I am having an issue where, some games play perfectly fine, but some do not offer me the option to choose native resolution, i.e 1600x900. They only offer me a maximum of 1280x800.

Here are some games where I get this issue:
    Prototype
    GTA IV
    NFS most wanted and carbon.

It's really annoying, and the image quality looks very poor. Any solution to such a problem?

PS: I tried searching for a solution, but the search on this forum does not seem to provide relevant results :/

I think it is not the problem with the game, it is the problem of the Optimus, you might have not been whitelist properly. However two of the game you list, I've been able to play it at 900p, Prototype and GTA 4.

However, for GTA 4, you might want to add command line into GTA4's shortcut allow you to tweak the setting properly, as it is a very buggy and poor coded game.

There is a link in my sig for how to Whitelist a game on your laptop. For the NFS games, sorry i cant help because I havent try it yet.

I did whitelist the games, but they still don't give me the 1600x900 option. In Carbon, the max I can choose is 1024x768, in prototype its 1280x800. The small GPU icon in the notification area shows that the game is using the dedicated card when being run. Any other clues?

No I have not, I am still using the driver which came along with the notebook. Which one should I try? On Nvidia's website I see 2 versions: Verde 304.48 Driver - BETA and Verde 304.79 Driver - BETA.

I'd go with the newest one. 304.79.

Try use these command line for GTA 4, it might help you tweak some setting, http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...x-underperforming-bios-a05-2.html#post7882973

For driver, I'd suggest you try the latest possible which is the 304.79.

I downloaded the 304.79 one, uninstalled the actual one, used driver sweeper to clean, then upon opening the new driver, it shows me this (check screenshot).

I'm downloading the other one right now, hope this one works.

Because the drivers that we recommend are only the DELL drivers, you need to go back to OEM or used a modified INF file from laptopvideo2go.com

I'm lost, could you guide me with how to use the INF? Or is there any tutorial somewhere? Thank you.
