Last July I purchased my Alienware 14 and it has performed flawlessly for me. Then two months ago I purchased my Alienware 18 and for the most part stopped using my 14. I was toying with the idea of giving my 14 to my best friend until tonight when my daughter told me that she is going to Thailand (Bangok) with her boyfriend to teach English. She currently owns an Aurora R3 (yes it's a family thing lol). She told me that she is going to need a laptop and voila, I knew whom my 14 was going to. I sent her a picture as she lives north of me about 90 miles away. She is very excited!
She doesn't leave until May so plenty of time to get her setup. I do have some questions about Thailand. I Googled the internet availability there it seems about on par with the many areas of the USA not on the East or West coast. Does anyone live there or has visited there that could shed some light on this for me? Oh and how should she go about keeping it safe?
Thanks for any feedback.

Hold on to your wallet or purse like you'll never see it again when out in crowd in public. Don't wear expensive flashy jewelries. Blend in with the crowd and don't look like a naïve tourist.

You could same the same thing about half the cities in the United States. That doesn't really tell me anything. Have you ever lived there? -
She'll be fine, Thailand is a very tourist friendly country and depending on the area, whether it's Bangkok, phuket or other heavy tourist areas you'll get wifi.
Another thing to note is that it's very very hot there (captain obvious, i know) so I would not be surprised if the fan is always running, maybe even intensively at times. When I stayed there for a month, ants got into little openings inside the laptop like the cd drive of my macbook and died, therefore blocking and damaging certain ports in the laptop. It only happened when I had some sugary snacks nearby though. -
Teachers are also very well respected in other parts of the world. She'll be okay.
I'd make sure it still has some warranty leftover. She may drop it or something, and that's covered under the Accidental Damage Service. Also, it would be best to keep it in some sort of case to protect it. -

Maybe a cooling pad could help as well. -

Yeah, I gave her a cooler and it has a good backpack but perhaps an additional zip-case would be good. It is still under warranty but only until July. I may extend it. Thinking about getting Lojack for it, what do you think?
