Hey guys!
I bought my M14xR1 (MISTAKE IN THE TITLE!) about a year and a month or so ago, and in the last few months, it has become extremely laggy when I play games (League of Legends) - I used to play on max graphics and get 70 fps, since the gamne is not very graphics intensive, but now I play on minimum graphics and get only 30 fps with lag spikes during teamfights, where I get about 10 fps on max graphics.
Since I make a lot of youtube videos and want to start streaming soon, and since the lag has gotten much worse in the last few weeks, I really need to get this fixed![]()
What I've tried:
All the "Microsoft support" fixes (rebooting, reinstalling, running the program as administrator etc.)
Whitelisting the program
Using an external cooler
My Specs:
Intel i7 2670QM 2.2 GHz
8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600 MHz
3.0GB DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GT 555M using NVidia Optimus Technology
750 GB 7200 RPM SATA 3 GB/s
Let me know if you guys need any more information from me, as I'll be checking this thread often until I can get a fix!

My theory is that something happened with Gt 555M and now it is using only Intel hd 4000 which obviously can't play games as smooth.

Thanks for the reply!
It's possible? How would I check up on my card to see if its working properly though?

You can go into the nvidia control panel and tell it to run the game using the 650m. My bet is that it's a heating issue and you're probably due for a thorough cleaning and repasting. An external cooler won't help if you've baked the paste out of the system.

Ok so when I run dxdiag vis the 'run' application, It only shows that I have the Intel HD Graphics 3000 card working, and the same goes for when I look at my device manager and my devices from the control panel system rating.
This of course leads me to believe that the problem is with my systems GPU.
The question is: how should I try to fix it?
The computer is over a year old, and I have never internally cleaned it, so that is a major possibility?
Or should I just take it into a shop and pay to have it fixed for me?
Or something else?
Thanks for the replies so far! -

Any ideas for what I could do to test what the problem is? -
If you can't think of anything else you might want to try restoring your system to stock. That would clear up any software issue and if it doesn't fix your issue you would know it's hardware.

I've posted a thread on the Nvidia forums just to see if theres anything I can do before I have to make any major changes to my computer, since it has become clear to me that this is obviously an issue with the graphics card

I used to have lag, then I realized I was using a weak power brick. That seemed to fix it. Maybe you'll get lucky and this will solve your problem.
Another thing to try is a reinstall. But those are a pain in the butt.
HUGE LAG on my M14xR2 - Looking for a fix (I will love you forever!)
