A couple of days ago I turned on my M14x and it did not connect to the internet (via cable), but the Wi-Fi still works. I checked the Device Manager and this is what I got:

Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
    Device type: Unknown
    Manufacturer: Atheros
Location: PCI bus 7, device 0, function 0

    Device status
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

    and on the Driver tab
    Driver Provider: Atheros
    Driver Date: 27/9/2010
    Driver Version: 1.0.0.36
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling it multiple times but that didn't work. I would really appreciate it if someone can PLEASE tell me how to fix this

I'm going to keep posting this until someone saves me from this hell :(

I had the same issue with my Ethernet connection. I tried everything but in the end the only way I resolved it was a new windows install unfortunately...

You can try to print a list of the drivers loaded by windows by going into properties and then clicking driver details.
Then boot into safe mode by pressing F8 before windows boots and manually removing those drivers. After that you can retry installing the drivers.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. I've already tried reinstalling the driver if that's what you mean

I mean manually remove the files that windows has. When you uninstall it, windows doesn't wipe the files. To do that:
    go into device manager
open the properties for the NIC
    click on the driver tab
    click on driver details

that will show you all of the files that windows has set aside for the driver.
You can try moving them to another directory while in safe mode and see if it will reinstall properly.
