Okay, I have downloaded and installed the newest beta drivers for the nvidia card. All my games run fine. However when I try to play GTA 4 it still wants to recognize the intel display driver instead of the nvidia even though I have my global settings set to use the nvidia driver. I even checked the GTA.EXE to use it in the white box in the control panel, but it refuses to use it. I am at a lost, help please anyone.

    Try
"white listing" the LaunchGTA.exe not GTA.exe
with the 275.27 drivers (the newst ones, forgive me if the number is wrong D :) gta runs fine with everything on HIGH save for shadows, which are on med.

Fixed it. Had to create a shortcut of the launchgta4.exe and then edit the target line with -norestrictions to get it to let me change the video settings. Hope this helps anyone else with this problem.

This kind of stuff is extremely annoying, I wish they would just give us back the BIOS option to use discrete graphics only, one reason I will never get rid of my m11x R1! This Optimus crap is pretty much worthless!

"the newest drivers are not always the best drivers"

Glad to see you worked the problem out though

Sure. Make a short cut of launchGTA4.exe. Put it on your desktop. Then right click and go to properties. Now, the targer line should already be highlighted in a box. Move your cursor all the way to the end of the target line..hit the spacebar once and add -norestrictions. Click the ok button. Now double click on the shortcut and the game will launch and you should be able to adjust the settings.
