-I've overclocked my laptop using msiafterburner 750/1500/1080
-Turbo boost off
-Cleaned my fan from dust
-put something at the back to lift the laptop for better air venting
-BIOS A07
-nVidia 295.73
BUT my gpu temperature is around 65-70(idle).
Increases to 90-98 when gaming.
Can someone pls help me with this. im so worried with my temperature. i couldn't play games smoothly when my temperature is too high.

Sounds like your GPU cant take the O/c. Roll it back to stock and see what you get for numbers.
You may also consider re-gooping your GPU with Artic Silver, usually shaves a few degrees. -
still no changes. but i've not done the repaste yet. hmm.. maybe i should send my laptop for service to dell or what? if anyone else how to solve this problem pls share.

hey mate sorry to hear about your proble, i have my overclocked to 770/1540/1080 and stll dont have those temps with turbo on, make sure your cpu isn't overclocked because the gpu and cpu have the same heat pipe, i see you have ao8 bios, try downloading the new ao8 from here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriversHome/?c=&l=&s=&cs= just scroll down click bios and click the ao8 version no the ao5
goodluck mate, i also suggest a re-past seeing as dell is dodgey with them! -
thx for the info. but still having the badnews.hmm...

Grab a thermal paste tube of IC24 from ebay and that should take it down up to -10c (it's about 20$ on ebay).
Alternatively, you can purchase a notebook cooler. There's a thread I created which lists m14x user recommendations.

well, my temps used to be that high, and there are two things that can cause it, poor thermal paste job or, clean out the dust, i blew my dust out and dropped 20 degrees

You can buy Voodooi said and then if Dell agree to send a tech to repaste, then tell the tech to use your thermal paste instead. However if those tech still stubbornly refuse, then the only remaining choice would be repasting it yourself. Now this is not going to be easily for newcomer to pull everything apart then put it back together, but as long as you carefully follow instruction, then I think you'd be fine, follow this link to the thread of: Alienware M14x Disassembly/Teardown and Upgrade Guide.

Orite then. I'll try. Thanks CGSDR.
