Anyone playing Max Payne 3 on your m14x? If yes, how is the performance? I'm downloading right and was at 19gb when decryption started. After decryption it started from 14gb again :(

So far not good. First it wouldn't run and when going to my steam folder and running as administrator it would still crash. Someone on another msg board said to run the game in windows vista 2 compatability mode on the exe file and then launching the game through steam but NOT the exe file.

This works, however when i got to change the settings for the game it is saying i only have 560 mb of vid memory when i have 3gigs worth. So, I am assuming its not wanting to use the nvidia vid card as the default vid card even though my universal settings have it set as default. I went ahead and whiteboxed the max payne exe file through the nvidia control panel, but that still doesnt work. It's late i am tired and angry tyring to get this game to work right. I am using the r1 m14x by the way, and have my drivers updated to 301.06 or whatever the newest one is.

I'll report when i'm done downloading later :c still 6hours to go

Works like a charm :D but for some weird reasons i cant change directx to 11. Other than that game runs fine with high setting

Yeah it wont let me change direct x at all it forces me to stay on 9 but i know i have direct x 11 installed on my machine and like i said before it is saying i only have 512mb of vid ram when i have 3 gigs worth. GTA 4 had the same problem but i was able to fix this with making a shortcut of the exe file and and editing the command line with -norestrictions. However, due to max paynes constant crashing if you use the main exe file i can't try this out.

In order to run the game with DX11, edit the command line and add :
    -dx11 -adapter 1

Worked fine for me, and from now on the game detects the right amount of video memory ;)

    Create a shortcut for MaxPayne3.exe, right-clic > Properties, edit the target :
    "D:\Games\Max Payne 3\MaxPayne3.exe" -dx11 -adapter 1 (for me)

    Launch the game ;)

I updated to the newest driver 301.40 and now under max Payne 3 it only shows 512mb dedicated video memory. Going back to 296.10, where i was running at max setting without a problem in D11.

I'm having a problem with the game running at all. It will run the social club updater thing...then just disappear. if i ctrl/alt/del i can see it running in the task manager...but i can't get the game to boot. Any ideas? Very frustrating!

also, it's the disc version, not steam.

Here is another forum with someone who has a similar problem: AW M17xR4 with 7970M - Steam Users' Forums except they are using an alienware m17x.

I don't know how to edit some of these files like they are talking about though. I am still trying to get this game to work though.

Ok, finally got it working right. I used the -dx 11 -adapter 1 method using the set launch options for steam. I can run it with dx 11 with most settings on high. However, I highly suggest anyone who uses these same settings to just turn off AA. Even when I am using 2x AA the game chugs during certain cutscenes so i went ahead and turned it off and for the most part the game runs well.

Thank you to the guy who posted that edit command.

Thank You Very Much For Sharing SpouX!!! Without your help, many gamers would have spent countless more hours trying to get the game to work with DirectX-11! The new Tessellation feature is nice!
