Not sure, but looks like a two year for me as main laptop. Then keep as a media player.
Provided it is still running of course or i dont sell it and get a macbook pro

I don't sell unless if I needed $$ or sell it as parts when they're totally unusable! I do value my stuff so I keep them!

About 4-5 years. Not upgrading till college, in which I hope to get a powerful 13 inch then. Halfway through my first year in High School so got a long ways to go.

Probably 2-3 years. After that I can probably sell it for 400-600. I think I'm done with notebook gaming after my alienware. It was only better for me because I'm in college and on the go. Once I get settled, you can't go wrong with desktops. More powerful, upgradeable, and cheaper for the performance. For a grand I can build a beast, cooler master haf case, gtx 560 ti, intel 2500k, etc. For like 350 more I can add another gpu and ssd boot drive :)

Same boat as Gearsguy... Halfway through freshman year, will get another laptop at college. Although I do plan on building a desktop after a year or so, then only using this laptop for going somewhere.

I will use it for quite a long time

I used to sell my alienware and buy a new rev as soon as they come out. But M14x R1 disappointed me with tons of problems and dreadful cs. I have no choice but to use it for many years and will not buy an alienware again

Plan to put the laptop on eBay this year and get the M17x instead, the reason for that is that it does not really meet my expectation and because of the heat issue.

Probably unitl R2 from m14x or m15x comes out. The heat issue bugs me. And in Europe i can still sell in half a year on a price thats enough for a new one :D

Keeping it until it dies. Replacing it once a game that I want comes out that I can't run at respectable settings. Which, thanks to the gaming world being held back by current generation consoles, could be a while.

As long as my daughter doesn't empty her milk cup on it.
Or as long as my wife doesn't throw it out the window because I play too much Skyrim.

    Which means... until 6:47pm today?

I'll probably sell it in another year. The longer I keep it, the more value it loses.

Same. My Acer lasted 6 years, but started to struggle with web pages with lots of flash content and with videos.

We have a powerful desktop PC, but unless actually doing work we prefer to sit in the lounge with our laptops.
