So I had the day off today and played probably 9-10 hours (not consecutively) of Skyrim and Battlefield 3 today. I've made sure that the core and GPU temperatures weren't too high and took 5-10 minute breaks every once in a while by just surfing the net but is that enough for a hard day's gaming session? I've never worked it so hard so I'm just a little worried I'm overstressing the computer.
EDIT: Also, is it safe overclocking the GPU all the time? I have it overclocked to 750/1080 and usually only OC it when I'm gaming but I could save myself the hassle of changing the settings everytime if it's not going to cause any damage in the long term.

What were your temps after a long gaming session. Oddly enough I just got done with like 3 hours of crysis 2 (1920x1080p, vsync on, hardcore graphics setting) and my temps was max 67c gpu and 69c cpu (vents were partially blocked). Stock settings for cpu/gpu. So I guess what I'm trying to say is as long as your temps are good you should have no problem at all. Game away.
As for having a permanent OC, the same thing would apply. Temps is what kills the gpu. If you can keep them low, then I see no reason why you can't keep a permanent low OC. -
as long as you have safe temps. dont stop gaming

It doesn't really matter how long you're gaming. Just watch out for high temps. Under normal temps, computer components don't really "burn out" with time. The only thing that I would think that would go bad faster is the hdd and screen, which would take probably a long time anyway. So don't worry

Great thanks for the replies. The CPU temps were hovering around 71-75C after long sessions with Skyrim. The load seems more evenly distributed across all 4 CPUs though because when I play BF3 for even half that time, the CPU#1 temp rises to 80-85 (while the other 3 remain in the 70's). As for the GPU temps, I can't remember off the top of my head though but it was definitely nowhere near 80C. So I should be okay I would think. Thanks again.
How much is too much?
