Noticed the M11x has a thread on how to boost/ obtain the best available performance for their machines.
With this and the current heat issues facing the M14x in mind, I thought it best to create a thread similar to that of our smaller kin.
What steps are you taking to insure the best available performance whilst effectively managing heat output on your system?
Any set up is welcomed from the lowest i5 to the highest i7.
Please include pics of any temperature/ software/ general display indication to help confirm your claims.

Here's a quick 1-2-3.
First, turn off turbo-boost. That may seem counter-intuitive but if you don't believe me just browse the forums (Caladdon knows what I'm talking about). If you want to flex your e-peen and boast about pointless CPU clocks while melting your thermal paste and throttling all day, keep it on. If you want to play games without your m14x catching on fire, turn it off. /dramatization
Second, update to the latest beta driver.
Third, grab some software listed in this thread and find a comfortable GPU overclock and temperature ratio (Note: most have agreed that ~750/1000 is the safest with significant FPS increases). -
What Kristofer said is a good starting point, but I would also recommend the OP to drop the request for pictures, as I would imagine that nobody would want to deceive you, nor go through the hassle of offering helpful tips and prove it to you.
Just my 2 cents. -
I certainly do Kris. A fact that bothers me.
Thus far I've only overlclocked or TurboBoosted when emulating games on the Gamecube emulator - Dolphin.
In regards to "zephir"....
It's not about "proving it to me". I'm hardly that selfish.
It's about visual feedback for the entire thread.
The M11x thread has pictures aplenty to help not only present what was achieved but to help clarify it for those who prefer a more visual oriented presentation of data analysis.
A.k.a. lots of number crunching.
Please have your 2 cents back in that case.
Or one of them if we are being pedantic. -
Well it's a different story if you elaborate on your request for visual, but I'm still doubtful that people will post pictures.
Anyway, for any kind of emulation, what I usually do is downclocking the GPU to reduce heat output, while turning on Throttlestop to provide maximum performance from the processor. This keeps the fan noise and temp down. Pretty much all emulators are CPU-dependent.
