How well does Shogun 2 total war run?

Hi guys i was wondering how well shogun 2 total war runs on the m14x

 

mines running it great! Play a mix of dx9 medium/high settings @ 900p.
It runs fine at stock clocks but I usually run mine at 750/950 and get 40-60fps

 

Very well actually. Considering that Shogun II is more of a cpu heavy game...it should run fine.

 

I play it on dx11, every effect activated and EVERYTHING on high and it's simply fantastic!!!! I have the 720p screen though, so I'm playing in 1366x768 native.

 

Yup. Mine also ran quite well. Considering all the details there, but yea, the laptop is quite warm

 

It Should run just fine. I did a video of it running on an M11x R2. The M14XR1 is quite a bit more powerful than the M11x, so I don't see why you should have any problems at all.

first time poster.

I've come to your site as i require desperate help. I have just purchased an alienware m14x i7 2.00ghz 6gbram 3gb GTS555m laptop. and have one major issue!!!

The Nvidia Optimus GPU, never selects the 3 gig graphics card over the Intel graphics (500mb).
this makes playing games quite sucky.

the other big issue is, I bought this laptop to play Shogun 2! and I cant!!!

when ever I try to play it, it says the Intel graphics is running.,



2ndly, on the nvidia website, it says Shogun 2 is not supported "well" by nvidia..

so two question.

1, how did you solve the Optimus issue?
2, How do you get Shogun to run well if its not supported..

I am all ears, and desperate to get my laptop running like its ment to.

Actually even on mine it shows the Intel as the graphic card that is used, but actually is not, otherwise the game won't even start.

This hapens with new drivers, because if you play with the stock drivers it should be correclty detected.

Anyway the game will run using the Nvidia card even if it's not shown there, don't worry, otherwise you won't even have the chance to set everything on high.

Did you download the latest patch? Can you run it with DirectX 11?

 

I'm pretty sure I ahve. my nvidia driver is 280.26 (I think.. but its the latest one, i got it yesterday).

if you look at my above image, you will see that dx11 is not even selectable...

I dont know why this.

How did you get it to do that? The game won't let me go above medium.

That's VERY weird! I'll make a screenshot with all my settings tonight and I'll post it here.

 

It doesn't say. I'm just using the demo. I've used the demo on my desktop computer and it allows me to play it on ultra.

 

Hi guys. I tried to play the Total Shogun 2 on my new M14x but somehow it kept detecting Intel HD Graphic with 500mb memory.

I had whitelist the game and also manually select the game by right clicking it and choose "Run the game with Nvidia GPU" but inside the option, it still showing Intel HD Graphic.

The initial launch it said would I like to use Dx11 to play, I chose yes.
In the game options, it cannot choose Ultra setting but can switch between Dx9 & Dx11. Some setting doesn't even let me set above medium.

I found the issue in TWS2 forum but still no solution.
