    I got Windows 7 with my Alienware 14 order, I have a copy of Windows 8 Enterprise..anyone have problems upgrading?

    Hi

    I bought a new alienware 14 (see sig for details), and I wanted to upgrade it to windows 8 Enterpris....is it a easy proccess upgrading? I mean in terms of drivers and stuff like that. Can I get it to be like an out of box windows 8 Alienware 14?

    Run the upgrade assistant, it will warn you of any potential conflicts. Uninstall the programs and drivers that might conflict and reinstall them after upgrading. Usually the warnings are there because things might not carry over properly, not because the programs/drivers won't work with windows 8. You should be able to get the Windows 8 version of any necessary drivers from Dell's website anyways.

    Personally, I'd just do a clean install, but I assume that it's what you want to avoid.

    It should be an easy process. I believe they'll use the same drivers and that should be the only concern.

    I just did the same on my AW 17. Keep in mind that if you want to upgrade to full featured Windows 8 or 8.1, you will not be able to upgrade within windows. You will have to wipe the partition.
