So I received my new M14x yesterday and it is awesome. Specs as follows:
i7 2630, 3gb gt555m, 6bg 1600mhz ram, 1600x900 display and 500gb 7200rpm HDD. This little machine has run everything that I have thrown at it perfectly, except one. World of Warcraft seems to be the downfall for this little beast. I can log in perfectly and run around with fps anywhere from 60-110 while on ultra with shadows turned down. But when I enter combat the framerate drops to about 4. I have tried everything that I could find on the internet. I have run it at the absolute minimum, I get about 230 fps but as soon as I enter combat, boom 5 fps. Every other game I have installed is perfectly fine and runs without a hitch. I have installed new drivers and whitelisted WoW in the control panel. I have even forced Dx11 to run from the shortcut on the desktop. Nothing seems to work and this is getting frustrating. Maybe you guys have a solution that I am overlooking.
PS Yes I did get the 3gb card, blah blah blah its a waste of money you say? Well the guy I spoke to on the phone gave me the upgrade for $10 and it acutally took a week off my ship date. Hopefully that will keep the trolls away![]()

Other common issues. Did you install the game or just move the WoW folder from another computer? If so then WoW.exe will not be whitelisted to use your GT555M. Also you do not need to force dx11 thru a shortcut. Once you log in you need to turn dx11 on thru the video setting > advanced. -

well I too had a similiar problem like this with recount after some patch that destroyed it somehow, but just updated my recount and it was fine again after that

Not to sound like a tard, or hijack this thread, but what is whitelisting?
-
Whitelisting: to add an application to the list of programs that the m14x will run using the nvidia card instead of the onboard GPU in the sandy bridge processor. You do it in the nvidia control panel. It's part of the optimus tech.

Problem solved guys. Recount sucked and was killling it. I updated and now I'm running 80 fps
Thanks for the help. This forum and you all are awesome.
Interesting problem...
