    Noob question :(
I saw the AW14 comes with DDR3L ram...
Would DDR3 works with it as well??? quite worried coz I've already ordered corsair's vengeance 16gb kit for an upgrade (even though my machine is still on it's way LOL) which is simply DDR3
Any help is much appreciated :)

I wouldn't do it. I've seen that Haswell can support 1.5 V but you may run into issues or damage the memory controller. Intels are super picky about RAM voltage. If you go higher it tends to damage the memory controller and that's not something you want to pay for repair.

Unfortunately only DDR3L will work. Using DDR3 will most likely produce BSODs, freezing or even no POST.

I currently have 1.5v in my 14 and I still get the 4 beeps so I would say stick with the DDR3L.

I think my ram went bad and I tried to replace it with regular DDR3 to fix the issue but it is still present.

I'm glad this was confirmed. Sorry you spent money on the wrong RAM. Make sure you exchange for something better suited for your new PC.

It turns out the only solution I can find is from crucial...
Using their compatible ram finder I found the ballistix 16 gb kits which they GUARANTEED would work :p

kingston's hyperx lovo would be perfect....but sadly it seems like they don't have sodimm model yet...

any recommendation would be great :)

I already started looking into this and Kingston does have 2 pairs of there HyperX lineup that is both 1.35 and 1.5.

    Here is the link.

    PnP | Kingston

    Part Number: KHX18LS11P1K2/16
    Part Number: KHX16LS9P1K2/16

I only use Kingston and there are quite a bit of people with 18's that use Kingston. Kingston has be extremely reliable. You wont be disappointed.

You know I was going to post them earlier but I assume that Corsair had a good pair of LOVO.

Lucky for me Kingston is literally 3 miles down the street from me and they have a will call :). So needless to say I plan on picking some up. I will decide which MHz when I find out what the limitation is for the new 14.

Luis do you happen to know what the RAM MHZ limitation is?

I'm going for the 1600 one as it's the only available one among two :(
They are soooo expensive.....Is it worth paying >$200 just for enough ram to set up ramdisk for caching?

The german AW Facebook people told me that standard DDR3 RAM would work fine...

There is a Kingston HyperX 16 GB set KHX16LS9P1K2/16 which should work, and here in Germany it's just below 150€.

The highest validated is up to 1600 MHz, dual‑channel DDR3L

    Thanks Luis.

I can tell you right now that I had Kingston HyperX 1.5v in and they do not work. In fact, I tried a few sets I had. I wouldn't waste your time or money to experiment. If you have some lying around I would try it first.

Finally, I've got the kingston hyperx 2x8gb kit ddr3l ram :D
The system seems running fine...though I forgot to remove the battery before installing them :(
But since the system boots up as normal, I think it's alright?
Windows experience index updated, the memory test increased by 0.1 :p
