I'm on my second keyboard as of now. I can't use the "ENTER, BACKSPACE, or the BACKSLASH" keys. The first keyboard was similar but included a few more keys on that side of the keyboard. Anyone else experiencing any similar issues such as this. I really do not want to send this in for repairs due to down time. I have a feeling it might have something to do with the motherboard.

With dell, you can always request part replacements to be sent to you or ask for a technician to come and replace the keyboard for you with their in-home service. Try asking dell through their chat support for a solution that way. You don't have to send your computer in for service, just refuse.
Remember, replacement parts are refurbished - if the keys that haven't been working are different to the previous one; I personally believe you just got two faulty parts - if it was motherboard related the keys wouldn't work at all.

I am trying to avoid a depot repair. I just replaced the keyboard that they sent me a few days ago and it worked fine for a few days then the same symptoms presented themselves again. I think the motherboard is bad. I use this computer a lot while I am on the road which is about 98% of the time so this is important for it to work properly. I am going to call back tomorrow and let them know. I just hope they will let me replace the motherboard myself and not deal with a tech. 90% of the time I know more than the techs and I don't trust them.

You shouldn't be faced with a deport repair ever. NBD on-site is what you've paid for and that includes everything all the way down to the motherboard.

They are sending me a new MOBO and keyboard. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I think the problem is power. I think something in the MOBO is causing an issue with the ribbon cable.

I received my new MOBO and keyboard today and everything is working fine for the moment.
However, at first inspection on the new MOBO, the board was cracked next to the Ethernet jack. This part of the board looks like a possible ground for the port. I have verified that the Ethernet port is working but didn't do any extensive testing besides verifying that I did have an internet connection.
When I receive my courtesy call I will inform the dell rep about the situation so he can record it in the notes for my service tag. I use the computer a lot so for the time being I don't think I am going to go through a MOBO replacement at the moment.
Luis, would you happen to know how to set the service tag in the bios?
