Hey Guys,
I ordered a M14x r2 about a week ago from Dell and upgraded my screen and the processor to the i7 ivy bridge. Everything else I left stock to save on cost. Most of my gaming will be using an ethernet connection along with a ac power source. I see a lot of people have been upgrading to the killer wireless. Is it too late for me to make the change and is it really an important upgrade for games like Diablo 3 that require an internet connection?
Thanks for your help!

I'm pretty sure you can buy it and install it yourself. The hard part is finding the part, I haven't seen anywhere it can be bought on it's own. As for it's benefits, I can't say as I don't have it (yet).

I'm in the exact same boat, i was hoping to upgrade my card to a Killer Wireless card as well. Let me know if you can find out where to get one.

When I bought mine a few months back I had them install the killer wireless but I did ask if I could have ordered it at a later date they said yes so you should be able to order it through Alienware

You can buy on ebay and sometimes Amazon marketplace has them also.

What does killer wireless actually do?

I have both cards , I'd say not much difference compare to 2230.
1202 does have tiny better range then 2230 just like sitting at kfc & hookup McDonald's wifi. also few ping/ms reduced compare to 2230. But in my opinion its not worth it. -
I'll talk to Dell and see what my options are. The only reason why I would consider the upgrade is if it allows better performance while gaming online via a wireless setup. I thought I read somewhere on the forums guys were getting better frame rates with the faster wireless card. If that's the case then it would be a good upgrade considering it was only $30 more.

You won't get better fps from wireless card , just saying if you have bad connection , no matter what wireless card you use it still bad , if you really want a good connection , all is about your router , your internet connection plan and who are you sharing the internet with. just helping you to save money here , because im regretting. 1202 is useful only when you plan to use other person's wifi other then your's.

Thanks for the info. It will be a hassle to have to send back my laptop to get it upgraded. If the performance doesn't change with the killer wireless card then I have no need for the upgrade considering I'll be using my own router and most of the time I will be wired in using an ethernet connection.

Well I just got off the phone with AW/Dell and I was told that the new Killer Wireless-N cards aren't available to purchase separately at this time but I was placed on a call back list to inform me when they are.
