Hey,
I found another problem to my notebook which is barely a month old now. The sub woofer problem I can live with but now the middle headphone jack is loose causing the plug to fall out with the slightest touch. Alienware's are known for their quality?
Another problem is that when I plug in the headphone in the first jack there is static noise in the headhpones. Plugging into the center jack relieves this issue but now the center jack is loose.
What is going on with this machine? It's brand new and the build feels nice but is really that good for the long run?
thank you

I'd go and get that headphone jack replaced since it sounds like an actual hardware issue that needs to be replaced. They might need to replace your whole motherboard though, which would suck. I don't know how you can live with the subwoofer problem since it really pissed me off. Also on full load how does your fans sound like? Mine sound like a hair dryer so I decided to return mine for a full refund.

Well most of the time I am playing with sennheiser headphones so thats not much of a problem. This, though doesn't make sense.
My fans aren't that bad, on full gaming they don't really sound that loud. I can hear them but they don't really hinder me or anyone around me. Today I was playing at a library, which are usually very quiet, and nobody had a problem with it. The fans are fine for me.
Can I return this for a full refund? I might try!
What laptop are you considering other than the alienware? -
Yes, you have 30 days for a full refund without having to pay the restocking fee (assuming your in the states). I'm just sticking with my G46 and using it as a desktop right now. I'm going to wait until broadwell and probably build an ITX desktop and check out the broadwell refreshed on laptops. I have time to wait, but I am looking at Sager NP7330 / Clevo W230ST, you can check out the review here - http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...ingnuts-sager-np7330-clevo-w230st-review.html Problem is I think it's also too loud for my taste.

I think any gaming laptop would be loud and maybe the best option for you in fact would be a desktop. A desktop would also create some sound though..

I'm not sure if we get the same static sounds but I agree that I got this if I plug the headphone into the first jack too. When I first plug in, it is quiet at first but then after I play some music, or might be a Buzz on facebook etc...it will start. I think it might have to do something with the audio software from Alienware audio. I'm thinking about trying to remove it to see if the problem goes away. It really doesn't bothering once you start playing music though, only when it sit around doing nothing. I think I can live with that and I don't think it is hardware issue. Please let us know after the tech come to your house (audio jack + power jack)

My Asus g75vx is extremely quiet. I even have the gpu overclocked via msi afterburner to the max and BF3 for 8 hours straight and I cant hear the laptop fans.
When My AW14 gets here Ill test it out thoroughly. This will be my third AW. First one was horrible old 5500 i think like 8 years ago. My second was a m17xR2, decent machine, hated the glass on the front of the screen. I REALLY LIKE the new "body style" of the AW machines so i am hoping for a great experience.
