So what should i do now ?
-
I have sometimes drops in gta too, it runs at about 40-50 fps, but sometimes it drops at 20 fps. I read about this and this could be an issue due do the stupid windows live thing.
-
so what should i do now ?
-
Have you tried rolling back to previous drivers?
-
Yea i tried
304.79-notebook-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-beta
296.10-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql
301.42-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql
But still game lagging. -
Try reinstalling both GPU drivers using this Guide for Optimus Units.
Then make sure your game is White listed, you can use this guide: How to Whitelist games (Written by: CGSDR) -
tried both, but still no improvement.

No, Whitelist will not work, this is not the problem with the GPU, it is the problem with the Game, GTA 4 is a poor console port, you MUST use the command line to make it work, here is the solution: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...4-doesnt-detect-nvidia-gpu-2.html#post7641133
And here is the benchmark I made after I use the command line: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...x-underperforming-bios-a05-2.html#post7882973
This problem is also associate with the multiple GPU machine, like SLI, xFire and especially Optimus, because I got a friend who has an old Core 2 Quad machine with a single GPU, he play the game with no problem at all. Copy and Paste the command line, and I guarantee you will be able to tweak the setting and get a better performance out of it. -
Tried your commands. WTH problem with my laptop
, still lagging
,
this sucks really :/ -
How many frame do you have after you try the command lines? And is it a Steam or a DVD version? Because there are users saying that the Steam version tend perform worse than the DVD one, which I got the DVD version.
-
frames are between 15-25. and its a steam version.
-
Did you try putting a .txt file in the root of the installation folder (normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV , I think), name the file commandline.txt and put inside it this: -availablevidmem 1.0
(someone above referred to topic about this)
This helped fix a problem with the game not recognizing the 3GB graphics memory of my gt555m. -
Game is recognizing my NVIDIA GPU but the problem is im getting low fps even in medium settings.
-
Ive been having fps issues with some of my games as well
