I thought I would post this issue here as I know of Notebook Review's reputation for being a concise and respectable resource for computer issues. I own an M14 and have had it for a little over a year now. Recently, and I mean within the past few days, I have noticed that just after booting up the laptop and getting into Windows, my fan will speed up to full blast and my mouse and keyboard lock up. It lasts for about 15-20 seconds and then the mouse will work but the cursor stutters across the screen and then a few seconds later, everything is fine.
This is a very recent issue, and I have not experienced this before, at least not on this model Alienware laptop. I had this issue before on the M14X R2, and the only thing I can think of that the two have in common was the usage of a SSD as the primary drive. My current SSD is an Intel mSATA 240gb, which came with the laptop.
I cannot for the lfie of me figure out what is causing this all of a sudden. I checked the Event Viewer in Windows and the only thing I saw that may possibly be the problem is an error with IRSTSV. After searching around online, I have seen various postings for answers, but none seem to make any sense, or at least, nothing that pertains directly to the issue I am having.
The only things that have changed on my laptop recently were some Windows Updates (I believe on Wednesday morning). In any case, this only happens once per session. The mSATA I have is used for the OS and other programs and all my data that I keep and/or write to is on the secondary drive, which is a WD Black 750gb HDD. I learned long ago to refrain from keeping personal data on the SSD to keep the writes low and help the SSD maintain longevity.
Has anyone else seen this issue and if so, know what may be the root problem? I did see a few folks mention that this could be due to power options set on the laptop, but everything on mine is set for high performance and nothing should be going to sleep or set for low power, if that is even a solution to my problem.
Thanks.

The problem is caused by a dell program called alien autopsy being updated to PC CheckUP..

I suffered the same problem on all my alienware laptops both 17 and 14 models after they updated. and its just a simple case of running services.msc and setting 3 items to manual.

Thanks guys for the info. I actually did a "Dell Cleanout" on my laptop and uninstalled a lot of unneccessary Dell items, since my M14 is out of warranty (but still kick'n the mules). Uninstalling the Dell Support Assist helped. All I have installed at this point is the Alienware Respawn since I still have the recovery partition intact. One other question though, does anyone know how to get rid of the highly annoying Alienware notifications that bug me to create factory recovery disks? I don't see anywhere in the Alienware Respawn to config it to stop those from appearing. I keep getting a bad score on the protection risk, despite the fact that I have antivirus and firwewall active, I have recovery on my external HDD as well as DVDs of Windows and drivers and apps.
