Does anybody have an ideas for my problem I stated before. I still can't get it to work.

Only once I had a problem installing Nvidia driver off Nvidia site and the above steps fixed it.
p.s. dont let Windows update your Nvidia card after restart e.g. disable Windows updates during updating drivers manually and if prompted by new hardware found ... click cancel and proceed with manual install. -
I'm having an issue with my driver. Initially the 296 driver installed fine. A few days later I tried to run Skyrim (having not played it for a week or so) and it reverted to medium settings. Odd I thought, until I noticed Nvidia control panel was reporting it didnt have an Nvidia card. Tried reinstalling driver and got the incompatible card message.
The symptom I have that no-one else seems to have mentioned is that the 555M doesn't appear in device manager - all I have is the intel 3000 card showing.
Tried most of the tricks on here, tried system restore, tried reinstalling intel card to see it it encourages Windows to see the Nvidia card. Nothing.
Any ideas? -
I would try installing drivers from the Dell website (if you haven't already tried this) and then upgrade from there using the installer from a couple of posts back.
Other thing is you could try is the modded inf file, if the installer alone doesn't fix it. -
Tried the Dell drivers, they say there isn't a compatible card either (even the oldest ones that I know have previously worked). Downloading the modded ones now, but I'm starting to wonder if my nvidia card has actually failed or come loose or something.
Edit - modded drivers failed too. Going to try putting the original hard drive back in, which I swapped for my SSD the day I bought the machine just after first boot. If the nvidia card isnt working with that drive then I know there is a hardware issue. -
Okay, took the back off, looked for anything loose (nothing obvious), reseated the RAM modules and put back together. Card now showing in device manager and drivers installed fine. That was strange.

That was strange. Glad it all worked out. Have a good night!

I did the down load last night and played World of Tanks, WOW what a difference. The graphics were much more brillant in color and deffinition. It was like having a new pair of glasses. No issues with the download.
Thanks

Awesome. Same here, been playing Skyrim, SWTOR, and NBA2K with no problems whatsoever. I'm very happy so far.

NVIDIA card is actually soldered permanently on the motherboard so there is no chance its actually lose or anything.
But i have to admit; recent array of drivers released by nvidia in the past have really been more of a trouble then an upgrade to fellow m14x users.
I dont know if the GPU is kind of the rogue one or dell did some wierd job with the bios or anything. Nearly every other user has complained atleast once about the GPU driver issue. not good....not at all.... -
I've been getting stuttering and lost 7FPS due to this - had to rollback. -
Thanks for the heads up. I haven't noticed any issues, but I haven't done any large Operations, so that might have something to do with it. Thanks,
-
I have to add, even if it may already been said in this thread, that since I have installed this version I have not needed to add any game to the Nvidia GPU white list.
So far all games have been picked up and ran with the Nvidia GPU.
