Trying it now on the 555, will report if there's any problems.

The previous drivers hurt SWTOR performance, however since the game is completely dead on my server (6 people during prime time - imperial fleet; 0 pvp queues), it doesn't matter anymore.

Current games: Civ V; Heroes 6; Batman AC; BF3

I try it in the GT555m and my Fraps Down in the Low Settgins playing BattleField 3.

    296:10 = 60 Fraps +/-
    301.42 = 15 ~ 20 Fraps.

You may have to whitelist Battlefield 3 again to get the gt555m to kick in.

Even after whitlelisting it still refuses to use the Dedicated GPU.

As useful as Optimus is for saving battery life, it is an utter b!tch when it comes to actual activation.

I preferred manual switching on the M11x R1.

After I installed the drivers, I see that Diablo 3 lags for a bit at the beginning of the session then after 15 seconds or so everything mellows out. It did not do that withe the 296.10 drivers. I have no problems after the first few seconds.

    Reporting in -

No issues that I can see so far. I'm sure the latest drive broke a couple games, it always happens - the problem is finding out which one :p

Nope, my BF3 work fine, and even get a fps increased by 2-5, not much of a diff but at least it is not a decrease, and the whitelist thingy, you might also want to whitelist your browser and Origin as well.

I am getting 20 FPS drop in D3. Down to 40. Not a single mod to factory system. It's definitely a decrease in Driver performance.

I used to use 290.36 for SWTOR, but since my server is dead and I can't transfer, I'm using 295.73.

It really depends on the games you're playing :)

Does this new driver really affects Diablo 3 negatively? :(

Should I still stay with 296.10?

If it is enabled, it could explain the performance issues, as FXAA is basically Nvidia's anti aliasing postprocessing.
I am using 301.24, which is the beta before 301.42 i think, and I am getting 40-60 fps with all max settings but vsync off with m14x r1.

Tried 301.42 and yes, Diablo 3 is bad on this new driver! Reverted back to 296.10 immediately. BTW Heaven DX11 Benchmark 2.5 performance score is similar between these 2 drivers.

269.37 is an ancient default driver, I highly Highly Recommend you update it because otherwise majority the game that release in 2011 or later, you wont be able to play it properly, it "might" play but the game just not support by the GPU, if you unsure of which one is the good one, try either the 295.73 WHQL or 301.42 WHQL, because personally I found either of them is really stable (not crashing games or make my GPU unstable) but the 301.42 is a better one because it also boost some few fps in BF3 and Skyrim.

M14XR2-->Diablo 3 takes a performance hit. Everything else is big gains. Want to try something that will blow your mind? Test the old driver 296.19 with Batman Arkham City. I used all settings high, dx11, tess and AA high, physx set to cpu. Test using built in Benchmark. 61fps. Install 301.42 as instructed, test again exact same settings. 73fps. Yes, you heard me. 73fps. 12fps increase. I don't think I have ever witnessed such an increase. If they can fix the minor issue with Diablo3 in the next driver release I will be bueno.

I updated the driver to the latest one but it dropped windows overall score from 5.9 to 5.3. Gaming graphics score was 5.9 before but after updating driver its 5.3.
Nvm after re-doing the assessment in high performance mode fixed it.

I install this driver and it got me a problem with optimus.

Now I have to whitelist most the games in 3D settings, before it was sometimes needed most of the times the autodetection worked.
Also the GPU indicator is broken, with that indicator it was possible to verify that the game was running on the Nvidia GPU. When looking for performance issues you got another thing to add to the list of "maybe" problems, is it really running on the Nvidia GPU "I dont know the indicator is not working.".

Uninstalling the driver, reinstalling, getting back to older versions back and forth. The issues with optimus this driver gave me seems to be here to stay.

Well, sure, installing older drivers should remedy this problem, but it doesn't.

With a game like Perpetuum I get 6-8fps even though I whitelist it.

    *thumbs down* for this relase.

i too am experiencing a huge FPS reduction with the new patch. uninstalling and downgrading to the 296.10 version as well.
i was really hoping this would improve the stuttering in Deus Ex:HR, but maybe next patch...

oh, i don't own an Alienware (using a Lenovo) but also have the GT555M 1GB

One thing I want to say is that the GT555M has many many different version, plus the GT555M that the M14x use is the DDR3 GF106/GF116 version, and IIRC on some random article regarding the GPU versions, yours which the Lenovo is one of the few series that come with a GDDR5 version but I'm not too sure.

i know that Lenovo uses 'gimped' GT555Ms (how gimped, i'm not exact) but i'm pretty sure my Y570 doesn't have DDR5 :(
    correct me if i'm wrong.
