I recently ordered a M14x but haven't received it yet.

I was wondering how the airflow on the M14x is, like where is the intake/outake of hot/cold air?

On that note, what laptop coolers/cooling pads do people recommend for the M14x?

A few that I was considering were:

-Cooler Master NotePal U3-so I can just adjust the fans to match the M14x, but I've heard the quality of the fans is suspect and if there's a better cooler I'd go with that

    -Cooler Master Notepal Infinite

-NZXT Cryo LX-but I'm not sure about the airflow on the M14x

    -A Zalman NC Series

    Any suggestions?

The fan is on the bottom, and the hot air comes out from the back. It is ridiculously loud, however. Although, as loud as it is, it keeps everything fairly cool.

I don't use a cooling pad and my m14x seems to do just fine. My graphics card temps don't get above 76 C overclocked during gaming. from what Ive heard the coolermaster u3 is a decent choice for the m14x.

I have a Zalman NC2000 and it's great. I overclocked my 555M card a little (700/1400/1000), and the difference with and without cooling pad is noticeable when I play Dragon Age: Origins (just as an example). Without cooling pad, the temps are in the mid 70s; with cooling pad, mid 60s (~10 degree difference). This also translates to a roughly 5-10 fps difference when I play as well, as the framerate seems to dip a bit when the card starts getting warm (not sure if this should be the case, but it's what I've observed).

My cooling pad is not needed, but it has a very noticeable effect and I love it!

I use the U3 and its great being able to place the any anywhere, they put out a good amount of air and the cooler is aluminum but I don't think it makes much of a difference being that my processor still reaches 90c. Graphics card stays under 80c though. I am very disappointed at how hot the m14x gets and how loud it's fan is. I guess that's what we get when Dell try's to cool a 45w processor with one heat pipe. My friend has an m17x r3 and it is so quiet while gaming, if it weren't so big I would pick one up in a heartbeat.

My CPU reach between 96C - 99C while gaming (BFBC2) with an OC GPU with 70C - 75C, read this thread here for more info on my problem.

    Two Question on M14x

Surprising your CPU gets that hot, especially in comparison to your GPU.
That seems like an internal issue, like that other guy mentioned in that thread.

Also what do people think is the best temperature monitoring program for the M14x?

Hm... I think I'm just going to try adding some fans to my current laptop stand or something.
