    Hey!

My new computer finally arrived yesterday! However, when I go to use the HDMI to connect to my monitor the monitor enters sleep mode and my computer cannot detect the monitor. When I unplug the HDMI the monitor turns back on and says no signal. What can I do to get this to work?

    Thanks

    Ivan

Also, I have tried the VGA port. My computer does detects the monitor, but the screen is still getting no signal. The monitor just says no vga cable.

I want to be able to connect via HDMI. I appreciate any help!!!

That was one of the first things that I tried. Sadly that is not the case. The monitor works with my other computer and my xbox so I can rule out the monitor being the problem. It seems as if my hdmi port is not active. Is there a way to activate it?

should be a funtion key on your keyboard that should enable you to extend or replicate or replicate your screen. On my m17x its F6 and it has what looks like a laptop with an arrow pointing to an external monitor. I'm not sure how similar the function keys are between the m17x and m14x though so it could be something else. :(

It would be "FN" + "F1" on the m14x.

Thank you for your replies! I have tried both suggestions. When I press fn + f1 it brings up the external monitor screen, but it still does not detect the hdmi.

Windows + p did not put the image on the scene either. Is my model faulty? Has anyone else with the m14x had the same issues?

I have the same issue, and despite several people here helping out with the same suggestions, nothing has worked. When I first attached the HDMI cable from the TV to the laptop, the NVidia settings did recognize the external monitor, but no signal was sent. Now the laptop screen goes blank and the TV reports no signal. Driver issue? It seems almost that the Intel graphics card is somehow screwing things up, but can't be sure.

I first have that problem too, but was fixed when I do a restart with the HDMI Cable plug-in, and the M14x's screen is off. After the restart, I guess the POST check detect the TV properly and transfer it to the TV, however you can also switch thing around by using the "Screen Resolution" found by right click on desktop, then choose whichever display you want with the "Display" drop box.

Oh btw, my external TV isnt a monitor for computer, but it's a HDTV, Sony Bravia 32" to be specific. Two more things I want to add, one is that my HDTV also accept VGA cable and surprisingly the VGA cable does not need any restart it just work right-away after plug-in, two is that my HDTV has a sort of monitor modes, HDMI obviously for HDMI, PC mode is for the VGA, and other several modes for normal Digital TV operation, I have to switch to those mode in order the monitor to display the correspond cable I plug. I hope this may help.

The External monitor (HDMI/VGA) is handle by the NVIDIA Control Panel, so dont both update the Intel HD3000 Driver, because it would fix anything, I tried it, once I plug the HDMI/VGA, NVIDIA Control Panel just auto pop up for config at the very first time I plug those cable in.

I don't know about you guys, but when I had my m11x, I had a bunch of windows updates, and the hdmi did not work. After installing all of them, it did. My guess would be that it's a software problem.

    Restarting worked for me.

The problem i am having is a random imperfection starting from the top of the screen and scrolls to the bottom... does not do it constantly but occasionally...

I assumed it was because i had a cheap hdmi cable so i went and bought a rocket fish that said it was capable of sending 3D. figured this would be adequate considering I'm only viewing blue-ray. Same problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
