How is the keyboard, compared to maybe a chiclet style?

Is there any flex at all? I was kind of worried as it looks mainly rubber. I dont like how it bumps up, compared to like the m11x is flat

The keyboard is just about perfect. The keys are the right sizeand the texture is excellent. No flex.

Well, I have the Logitech G15 gaming keyboard and a logitech ultra thin (laptop style) keyboard and a Sony laptop (chiclet style keyboard).

For gaming, the big keys on the G15 are by far the easiest to use. I never hit the wrong key and my hand doesn't feel scrunched up or uncomfortable. (That is my left hand on the WASD, ctrl, space). However, typing essays is pain (relative to my other keyboards) because it takes mere effort to push the key down.

For typing essays and even general web searching (or forum posting in this case), I prefer the logitech illuminated keyboard the most. I like it even more than chiclet laptops. It has flat keys (just like the M11X) and I can type my max speed and for extended periods of time without feeling any strain at all. It just feels "right"; it's hard to explain.

Just to give you an idea of how much of a difference it makes, I just took an online typing test:
Logitech G15 (big keys): 93 words per minute
Logitech Illuminated keyboard: 112 words per minute

I'm sure everyone has their own opinion, but I like big keys for gaming and love flat (non chiclet) keys for everything else. It's a trade off in my opinion; gaming or fast typing.

I'm probably rambling by this point, but I think the M11X keyboard is more suited for typing than the M14X based on the pictures I've seen.

Yeah I'm really loving the keyboard so far. The keys are a bit spread out for my liking but that's probably because I upgraded from a Fujitsu P1620 with an 8.9" screen. Other than that though the keyboard is great. I've decided it's good enough to take my criminal law final on on tuesday!

That is good news to hear. I fell in love with Cherry MX Black switches of my Steelseries 7G therefore generally hated laptop keyboard. If it is better than average I would be very satisfied.

i am enjoying the keyboard so far, although certain keys, like the shift key feel a bit diffent, almost a little squeaky. still i find it comparable to other rubber keyboards i have used. keys are defiitely a bit larger than i am used to.

Good keyboard. Only think I hate though is the edges right above the grills are very sharp and it's irritating typing on the laptop.

I recently received my M14x, and have noticed that the keyboard slightly tapers higher on the right side. This didn't really bother me until I used the delete key. Every time I press the delete key down it sticks under the speaker and I have to use a toothpick to pop it back up.

I was wondering if this is something I can fix? Will it void my warranty?

I really don't want to send this laptop back for repair as it is my only computer and I need it for work/school.

I personally like the chiclet keyboard on my samsung netbook more than the keyboard on the M14x. the chiclet keyboard just feels easier to type on for me.

I do like the backlighting though.

Nearly as good as the Lenovo T61 keyboard. 'Nuff said.
