nice pic like up you compared it (the size) to m11. thats how im gonna be like haha
-
The £300 off voucher didn't work with EPP or any other vouchers so don't worry about it, sounds like you got a decent deal there anyway.
-
I am still trying to resist the unopened box next to me!
No delivery is the only reason I hate bank holidays -
I still got my money, I called and asked if they received my payment and they said everything is fine so I guess it might be a bank issue. I left my money in the account and won't be touching it. I expect the bank will notice the mistake and correct it if not then we got free computers lol!
-
Your bank takes the money out of your account while it's processing in anticipation of it going through. However, Dell doesn't actually charge you until it ships. Within a few days of shipping your money will go away again.
-
They took my money out the day I ordered, why would they take the money and then put it back in?
-
It is pre-authorization to make sure your bank details are vaild. As soon as the machine passed to courier you will find your money disappeared
-
Transactions take two or three days to process. If you look up your account online, you'll see that some of your transactions are pending, but those pending transactions still count against your balance. If your balance didn't update until three days after each purchase, things would get frustrating.
With the Alienware computer, your transaction was pending, but then it didn't go through. The money gets returned to you (even though it had never really left yet), and then Dell charges you when they ship it. -
My 14x just arrived - first impressions are that the build quality is very good. I have owned a 11x and a 15x and this is definitely better than the 11x. The hinge does feel solid and should last.
It is a nice size - very similar to the 15" MBP that I have, however this feels pretty heavy and solid.
I'll post some pictures shortly. -
This blows!!! I ordered the morning it was released and mine is still in production!! Love how people that ordered a week after have already got theirs.

I ordered this laptop 26 april 6pm.
Now my order just went from "in production" to "shipped"
To be honest I think that is quite fast
According to Dell(Denmark) the steps are as followed:
order recieved
preparing for production,
in production
finally shipped
so this should be the final step for me
-
I ordered mine on the 19th and it was shipped on the 27th. From what I've read on here it sounds like Dell in Europe is a lot faster at getting orders shipped than here in Canada and probably in the US
-
Ordered the 21st still in production
-
danielfristrupsimon Notebook Enthusiast
Well to be honest I think it is fair that we in europe get em fast
(joking) But honestly, Alienware cost so much in Denmark compared to the US. I ordered a m14x
2630qm, 6gb ram, 500gb hdd, 555m gt 3gb, intel wireless, and 1600*900 screen
The total amount which i had to pay was 2142 american dollars and that was WITH a 10% discount. If i wanted the 2830qm the upgrade would cost 655 dollars...
I would rather wait a bit longer and save the cash
-
That makes me feel a lot better grey, you have no idea how annoyed at myself i was.. i can live with £50 loss because at the time i didn't know whether or not to order from the states or UK so i wasn't ready to order
Cant wait now though.. I got my estimated delivery date through just a second ago, The Estimated Delivery Date for this order is on or before 2011-05-13 (yyyy-mm-dd). does that sound right ? seems very early to me that's only 14 days -
I hate you
-
My EDD is May 16th. I ordered on April 24th.
It used to be May 18th, but I called and got NBD added for free. I really want my M14X by May 13th, but anything earlier is appreciated.
From all the people getting their laptops early, I think getting mine at least 3 days (2 business days) earlier than my EDD is very probable. -
sorry stupid question but what's NBD ?
-
next buisness day
-
Such a thing does not exist for UK users, they ship from Shanghai China by UPS via CN-KR-KZ-PL-DE-UK
-
why are u returning/selling your m14x? (sorry if i missed your reason in another post)
-
I placed a second order with cheaper coupon and it is too late to cancel the first one. Returning unopened order to dell in UK will cost me £20 but I am still £90 up!
Unless any NBR member in UK fancy having it off me without waiting, it will be returned. -
OMG! My order is still in production
I ordered on the 21st....
-
try calling you rep. the status page updates really slow..
-
Good call dude! I just called and they told me they shipped it
Didn't get a tracking number though
-
nice! you should get the shipping info soon, maybe tomrrow haha. hopefully mines ships soon too. order a day after you, last time i talked to my rep he said it was in the final stages of production. and that was a day ago >_<
-
So excited I cant wait! Hope you get yours soon too
-
Shipped today! Coming tomorrow!!! I can't wait to show my friend. My friend is a dj and he wants to get a new laptop. He wants to pay $2k for a Mac. When I show him this laptop and the lights, it will go perfect with this turn tables and he'll go out and order one.
-
That is the general assumption these days. People see commercial DJ's on TV or at concerts with Macs and everyone assumes Macs are DJ laptops. Hell, I used to think the same thing years ago until I dedicated my part time hobby in electronic music/DJ. I see some of the best underground DJ's (UK Garage / Deep House / Drum & Bass genre) use Windows based laptops.
Sure Mac has various alternate software tools, but that doesn't mean just because you buy a Mac it will increase your skill/learning curve compared to you bying a Windows laptop
FL Studio on Windows has the easiest learning curve of them all
M14X is an excellent DJ laptop too, so hopefully you can convince him in getting one. Envy 14 was very popular in 2010 for DJ'ing, but I think 2011 is the year of the M14X (hopefully!).
An M14X, with 6GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD would be the ideal config for a DJ set up. 7200RPM HD's tend to have a small delay when construction certain electronic genres. Your friend could get this amazing set up for under 2k if he does the RAM/SSD himself. Could still do with a 7200RPM/Hybrid, though ...the delay is only when constructing and not playing. -
Most orders are on hold because of AW waiting on specific parts. I spoke with my rep on this today.
-
This would probably be the 750GB HD.
Lots of posters have had people who ordered after them get their laptops shipped and delivered while they continue to wait due to having chosen this configuration option.
Asus had the same problem a while back with the 750GB HD's and it created a massive delay with the G53.
Dell could easily fix this by placing "(Choosing this option may delay your order)*, but if they put that comment on the site, people won't buy the overpriced upgrade and Dell loses $
-
So how long does it usually take to be delivered after showing 'Shipped' on the status page in the UK? I only ordered on Thursday but got the complete basic configuration so as to avoid any kind of delay. And now the status shows 'shipped' (apparently it was shipped yesterday - or that is when the status changed).
I am going to work in Strasbourg, leaving Thursday next and am really hoping it arrives before then - otherwise I will get my family to send it to my Strasbourg address.
I know Monday is a bank holiday but will it make it by the end of Wednesday!!!? -
Once mine said shipped, it arrived 2 days later
-
YES MY ORDER HAS BEEN SHIPPED!!!!!!! should get it today, or on monday!! can't waitttt
it is a 6hr drive away from my house! hopefully fedex gets it to me today! -
Thanks for the info - I really hope this is what happens for me too then!
-
OH crap forgot today was a saturday >_> dammit wont be seeing it till monday or tuesdays.. sigh

-

-

-
Woah, mine entered finalizing production.
Ordered on 4/24. See sig for specs. -
mines still in production, ordered april 22nd, and someone from dell called my house today regarding my order. i assume its because my billing address doesnt match my shipping address even though i told the rep to change it when i ordered it, and then again after i saw it was wrong.
-
sun valley? don't kno where that is haha, im from san jose.
-
