So I have been dealing with really bad FPS drops lately and haven't been able to find the cause. I decided to check my temps to see if they were abnormal. After 15 minutes of playing WoW on low setting this is what I get. pc temp.png

Anyways, please let me know if this is abnormal and what i should do about it. Thanks!

Your temps are abnormally high, I'm surprised your notebook didn't shut itself down because of overheating...

What you can do now and I highly recommend to you is to repaste your notebook. Most users on here suggest to use
"IC Diamond" as thermal paste to get the best results. You can find a nice teardown guide in this thread.

    I hope I could help :)

Abnormal. Try to remove dust first by using compressed air and, if that doesn't work, repaste your heatsink.

After cleaning and repaste, put something in the bottom back to rise the computer so more fresh air can enter, also you can try to put a normal house fan blowing air to one side of the computer, so you increase even more the air flow. I was able to substantially increase the performance just by doing those.

If the laptop is still in warranty you don't need to re-paste it, just send me a PM and I'll have a tech fix it.

I didn't think I'd ever read about someone doing this too haha! I've done this once when my laptop was overheating and I had no thermal compound hand for a re-paste. Had to wait around two days to get the compound but my temps were never too bad, the house fan blowing from the side helps a LOT if placed correctly :D (Of course not recommendable, just thought I'd mention it in case you want to play while you fix the overheating problem).

Yes, the normal house fan is very good. In resident evil 5 benchmark I increase the frame rates from 63 to 69 on variable just by using the fan. I put the fan blowing from the hard drive side, because the hard drive side of the palm rest gets a little hot, and with the fan blowing it doesn't gets hot at all. In conclusion I highly recommend the house fan :D

If you are on an R2 the GPU throttles at 65C down to lower core clocks. Prop it up and don't use the fan and you will be fine with an R2.

I had pretty bad temps like this to. I was hitting those temps playing old games like Championship Manager 00/01,so i knew something wasnt right.

I re pasted my cpu and gpu and cleaned the dust out the fan.

There was an improvement, but i still hit high 80's and sometimes max at 92 ish.

The m14x is getting older now,and the cooling was never that great in the first place.

You should try re-pasting it, those temps look pretty high.
