Atm the Sata III isn't activated, the m14x support it but it's not availlable, so you'll get the same speed as a SATA II SSD.

Not 100% true. You can achieve sata III speeds if you do a fresh windows install and dont install the chipset or rapid storage drivers. I experimented with my own M4 and m14x.I got sata 3 speeds if i didnt install the chipset/intel storage drivers, but lost them when i installed those drivers. I tried to uninstall them but it didn't help. Not until i did another fresh install was i able to regain SATA 6/gbps speeds.

Weird but thanks for the information.

Dont even dream of swiping your DVD driver lol
You will get lowest experience >> correct me if I am wrong
Best you can do, is Sdd or momentus on C driver Y PUNTO BASTA!
Left overs go no were Thanks to DELL OK -
And absolutely, as soon as it arrives (hopefully soon) I'll clone it to the SSD and start benchmarking. Unfortunately (for me) I think the Vertex 3 is faster in nearly all areas. The m4 is more similar to the Intel 510 series with a Marvell controller that isn't quite as capable as SandForce' latest offerings.
Speaking of which, does anyone know precisely what SSD Dell is shipping with the M14x? I've heard it's a Samsung but not the model name. It is supposedly a SATA 3 drive. -

I know this thread is a month and a half old but I thought I thought I'd post my 0.02 for people still reading it (if not posting in it).
My setup (once my m14x arrives) will be to replace HDD with a SSD I already have (OCZ Vertex 2, 240GB) and place the 500GB HDD that is coming with it in an external USB 3.0 caddy ($15, eBay). With the improved bandwidth in the 3.0 specification, I *theoretically* will get about the same speeds as if it were connected to a SATA port. So I'll place some less-often used games and media on the external drive, as well as a booting copy of Ubuntu.
For me, this setup means;
Less heat (internal SSD).
Better battery life when not using HDD (SSD uses less power than HDD).
The option to install a BD drive in the future (if a 9.5mm slot-in BD drive becomes available). -
I wanted to keep the DVD driver so i just swap the Momentus Segat 750 GB that came on it with an Intel SSD 160 GB and i connected the Segat to usb3 and it works very fast.
and for the battery consumption I did not knowdest much difference ! -

So... a slot loading 9.5mm BD drive is currently non-existent? -
I am hoping one comes out soon! -
