Since many down sides have been showed about the m14x recently, I was thinking about changing my mind and chose or the GT638R-242US or the Power Pro 11:36. I know that the m14x is smaller than the others but they have about the same price and, IMO, the m14x spec are way below the others.
Take a look at the specs:

Are those notebooks reliable? Are they much faster than the m14x? how faster in therms of fps?
Sorry about the number of questions, lol.....

Reading the specs about the MSI, it made my mouth water
. I paid ~1500 for the m14x and it didn't come with a gtx 560m, a 1080p screen (though that would be too small for a 14 inch), two 500gb hdd running in raid 0, 12 gb of ram, 720p webcam. Seems like a great deal. I basically got half those specs in hard drive (500gb), ram (6gb), and a much lower gt555m graphic card.

Ehh...RAID0 in a laptop that's at a size where you can carry it about.
To me that sounds like asking for it. -
There are many better specced laptops for cheaper than Alienwares, but they dont come with the lights and dont say Alienware on them.
-
Just looking at specs...Not size, weight, level of portability. that MSI is a great value no doubt. This is coming from an m14x owner too. I love the alienfx lights, but they get boring after a while. I really don't bother with them much anymore

The lights are not the same, but if you take a look at this url: MSI Global ? Notebook - GT683 ; You will see that it does have them. Furthermore, it has a much better cooling system, as I´m reading the reviews (the noise is MUCH lower).
I really don´t care about the name on it, but the quality is my main concern. Actually the Alien thing just make the notebook more weirdo for those who are not apart of games and hi-end notebooks, IMO.
That´s one of the main reasons why I´m wondering to forget the m14x.
How much faster would it be with a SSD? Does the upgrade worth? I´m planing to use it for gaming purposes, and for my college as well.
Does anyone know about the Power Pro notebooks? First time I heard about them. Their prices are very low for their specs... But, can I rely on them? Is the Power Pro much faster than the GT683R (as configured in the first post) -
Here is a recent review on the 11:36 look at it, he is an owner of a "real" msi and his thoghts are good.

Adding an ssd in the MSI would be easy since it has two hdd bays. You can add a low capacity high end elmcrest intel ssd just for the operating system. Although it would make booting up your computer very fast, writing and reading data from that drive quick. It doesn't really help with gaming quality except for the level load times. Not the actual video rendering. But for the MSI, you can forget the raid array that it comes with. Put one ssd in for the os and crucial programs you want to be speedy, and leave one of the 500gb hard drive for storage.
