My alienware m14x ac adapter just blew out. Not sure yet if the computer its self still charges need to buy a new adapter, but the thing that is worrying me is that my fps in league of legends droped by 30 and ping went up by 100ms. Could the short circuit have done this to the computer? Computer is 2 days old : (

Sounds like the performance probably dropped because of the power settings. If the adapter blew out, the computer may have switched from "high performance" power plan to "balanced" which is the default when running on battery.

About the adapter, send us an email: AWsocialmedia at dell.com, include your service tag and phone number and I'll be glad to look into your case :)

This is what first came to my mind, but as I am new with Alienwares I was not sure as to what had happened. But I have sent the email, and thank you for you help. I was almost in a panic attack thinking I had just destroyed my new computer.

Happened to me too. Since there is no on-site tech here in PH I went to the Dellservice center with my laptop and warranty info+ invoice etc. Got a new one in 2 weeks but still had to pay service charge around $40. Got a surge protector afterwards, been working fine ever since.
