If Generic UMTS is supported on some Dell notebook (exp lattitude E6400) for Dell 5620 card then why it is not supported for Alienware M14x for Dell 5620 card? I can not use WWAN 5620 on my m14x in my country :(

Try the solution of this thread in your m14x.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...ting-dell-5620-wwan-m11x-r3-generic-umts.html

The driver you should use is this:

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/72473707/3068cc2.zip

Please, let me know if your 5620 now can select the "generic UTMS"

I very interesting in install that card in my m14x R1

Louis, do you know if the wwan can be added to the r2?

I have a spare card in my m11x that I would like to see if I can have in my m14xr2.

I think that the antenna had to be included from factory in the LCD, so if you did not select it even though you install it the signal might not be good or might just not work at all.

Im just concerned about the port the wwan would normally go in is now a msata port. I dont have a msata drive in there, but I think its wired different from a mpci port... unless there is a bios switch or something that remaps the wires in there.

Antenna is not too big of a problem, I will just route it internal.

In this video, they show a WirelessHD card in the mSATA port(M14XR2) like M14xR1: Alienware Services - YouTube

So, the mSata port is a combo mPCIE/mSATA?....like this motherboard who has the combo slot? ZOTAC - It's time to play! - Z77-ITX WiFi

Luis, you can confirm my supposition?

I just installed the 5620 into my M14x R2 in the MSATA Slot The OSD Software did find my Card so i can switch in on and off. The Driver i got from the big Dell Support CD so even Windows did recognize the Cards proper but the OSD Switch Software doesn't enable the COM ports for Windows proper so there is a msg "no Modem found" in Windows but the Card shows up in the Device-list in Windows.

    Any suggestions?

    regards

    Wulfher

Hi wulfher. please i make you two questions:

    1) You can run 5620's GPS?

    2) What version of Dell Mobile Broandband Utility you use? can select the "generic UMTS" profile?

    hi Rogeliocenit

    1. Yes the GPS Function got his own COM Port

    2. I used the one you can download from the m11x R3 Support Page
and yes i created my own Profile and it works flawless.

i placed the Antennas under the left wrist pad there is just enough space for them but took some disassembly of the notebook ...

    regards

    Hi Wulfher,

How do you find signal quality under the palm rest? I was contemplating trying to disasemble the panel

Well ther are not many options exept the display for the antennas
But signal even with my hands over the pad is 50% and never dropping lower if i remove my hand it improves just a bit by 5%.
I get full 7.2 Hspa signal Quality and it never drops even if my hand is on the Pad.

There is no better place, if u disassambe the NB look 4 yourself.

    I am happy with it.

    Regards Wulfher

Wulfher, what is the "number part" of your card? (above the "made in china")

    Is CN-06NPW2 or CN-0GV33N?

    thank you in advance.

    Hey!
I've managed to install one of the antennas behind the display and one in the right wristpad (though now I think left would be better). I've managed to use some lenovo drivers to make my 3G running but when I try starting GPS it doesn't fix itself, I always get responses similar to:
    $GPGGA,,,,,,0,,,,,,,,*66
    $GPGSV,4,3,16,24,,,,,23,,,,,22,,,,,21,,,*7D
& its going like this in kind of a loop. Have any of you succeeded in getting GPS to work properly?
