Hey guys,
Been having an issue trying to run FFXI on a new m14x I just picked up. So far I've tried downloading new drivers (both WHQL and beta) both result in the following error:
nVidia installer cannot continue This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.
I've also tried going into nVidia control panel and setting the game to run only on the GT555 GPU, but everytime I start the game I get an error saying 'PlayOnline Viewer has stopped working'. I've tried downloading the viewer directly from playonline.com with the same results. Doesn't start from steam, doesn't start running as admin directly from the directory... I'm stuck.
The only way I can get the game to open at all without issues is to disable the nVidia GPU, but what's the point of having a gaming laptop if I'm running the game on Intel HD graphics ya know?
Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone had seen or heard of a workaround for this issue aside from running on the onboard HD? Alienware support said they could fix the issue, but I find it a bit ridiculous to shell out another $100 for a fix to run a game that's nearly a decade old.
