So, i've been gaming on this laptop plugged in. (because unplugged gives crap performance) im just wondering if this is bad for the battery. my laptop battery life while unplugged doing normal work is about 4-5 hours. im just worried that my battery will break down or something because i use it about 6 hours a day, gaming, (summer) plugged in. is this bad for my battery? when will i need to change battery? how long is the battery lifetime?

I recall the someone saying (and this goes for most lithium ion laptop batteries) that the charge cycle limit on the M14x battery is about 300 cycles. That's a rough number as there is variance between batteries, usage, environment, etc. You might get more, you might get less. Performance degrades gradually over time and use, but that's typical. You won't have 5 hours of battery life consistently up until the 300th charge then suddenly nothing; you will get less battery life over the course of the battery's life.

Unless you run the battery down completely every day, the battery should last you a few years.
