Hi, newbie here.
I want to upgrade my HDD to a SSD, however I'm kinda worried how to make it operate in a 'fresh' state every time.
I heard TRIM (or another garbage overhead collecting mechanism) is essential for using SSDs, but I'm unsure how to turn it on and how to check whether it is working.
Do I simply set my 'onchip SATA type' to 'AHCI' in the BIOS and I'm good to go? If so, how do I check it's working @_@?
Thanks![]()

Just set AHCI and do a clean installation Windows 7 (remove all partitions on the SSD and let the Windows 7 installer make them) and all should be fine.

Yes, Everything mentioned above should make your new SSD work like a champ!

Thanks for the useful replies
I also researched how to optimise the SSD, however most articles seem to be outdated, but apparently nowadays windows 7 is already optimized well with SSDs, is this true?
It seems upgrading to an SSD is much easier now thanks to windows 7, or is this is a false sense of security lol
