Hey guys, i had a dell technician come around to fix my HDMI for my laptop, he ended up replacing the motherboard and its fixed my HDMI but now my speakers arnt working properly...

when i go on to speakers window i configure my speakers to 5.1 and click test... you can see visually the speakers testing but i only get sound from my front 2 speakers... the rear, subwoofer and centre speakers dont make a sound. Before i downloaded the audio driver i had seperate speaker icon in the play back list.. when i test them they both worked but the test sounds sounded different.. it looked like to me that the computer had seperated the centre and rear speakers into one play back devise and 2 front speakers into another. so this makes me think that its not a hardware problem because they physically work, however im unsure about the subwoofer because i dont think thats made any sound.. its hard to be sure.

so yeah i dont know where to go from here.. i only have one speaker icon showing in play back devises now so i have no idea where the other one went lol. i have tried opening the realtech software as well and i have configured 5.1 sound in there as well but ones again you click the speaker pictures to test if they work and they make no sound at all apart from the front 2 :/

any help would be greatly appreciated because i only have 3 hours before i need to go back to work and im away for a week so im unsure if i should leave my laptop at home and call the dell techys out again !

the realtek software doesnt control the hdmi surround sound, it only controls the 3 3.5 mm ports on the left side for configuring them to 5.1. getting the hdmi working with surround sound is a pain in the , as i think it has to be done through nvidia and not realtek

Hey, thanks for the reply.. But sry I don't think I explained it very well, hdmi is fine and so is the sound over hdmi... But when I use the laptop speakers 5.1 isn't working properly. The m14x does have 5.1 surround sound right ? Lol I'm not trying to fix something I don't have am I ?
